Check out Dirt Fish Rally School, they have a program for almost every budget. They also provide the car.

Edit: Didn't see soulreapersteve already mentioned this. My mistake.

Dirtfish is a pretty big departure from more conventional performance driving.

The Lift>Turn>Brake mantra that they drill into you doesn't really apply for autox/track day driving, and left foot braking with manual brakes is pretty different from anyone's car.

It's a ton of fun, and I highly recommend it, but I think it's a bit different than what the OP is looking for.

Hey guys! I'm interested in learning to take my car to the limits that wouldn't danger the lives of others. It's been about 1 week since I learned manual on the BRZ that i just got, I think I'm getting better and better at it! But eventually I'd like to get some lessons/advice on how I can improve my stickshift skills, and throttle, steering control to know more about the limits of this car on a track/autox.

Where might I find some pro driving teachers in WA? Thanks!

The largest competition road racing organization in the Pacific Northwest is the ICSCC, http://www.icscc.com and the Seattle chapter of that organization is here: (http://www.irdc-racing.com). They have a Driver's Training in April at The Ridge Motorsports Park. All of their instructors are current road racers, many of them current/past champions.

School entries go quickly, but if you have any questions, open that link and Mirko Freguia's email is there. He runs the school.

p.s. If you're enthusiastic about racing I recommend you volunteer in some sort of fashion at the next IRDC race. You'll be able to talk to lots of race drivers and racing officials and the knowledge that will be imparted to you will be both abundant and of the highest caliber. PM me if that sounds like something you might want to explore.

Start here: http://www.scca.com/events/1982238-starting-line-portland

The FT86 is a natural autoX car and the best way to learn how to control your car is right there in the cone course. After several autox/SOLO events you will be more than ready to take on a track with your car at a novice to intermediate level. The great thing about Starting line s the value. I copied and pasted what you get for $325.

  • SCCA Track Night in America Event Entry ($150 Value) Track time in any of their locations which includes on of you area tracks.
  • SCCA Tire Rack Championship Tour or Match Tour Entry ($110 Value) This is a blast and is usually in Packwood, WA.
  • SCCA Membership ($85 Value)
  • Regional Event Entry ($35 Value)
  • Starting Line Hat
  • SportsCar Magazine Subscription
  • Grassroots Motorsports Subscription ($20 Value)
I've been autoX competitively in the Oregon Region SCCA for 2 yrs now and I can tell you that it makes you a heck of a driver. Some of us also do Chump car and Lemonz racing on the side. You will learn a lot about your car and how to modify it for different purposes.

My 2 cents!

I work on the racecars that prodrive uses at there driving schools at PIR. But they also do high performance days where you take your own car on track and a driving instructor goes with you.
