Synchro issue

Hi guys,

I think i have a problem with my synchro, it grinds when shifting at high revs from 3rd to 4th gear.
Any one had this problem? I'm out of warranty, so what would the cost to get this fixed, going to the dealer ship to have it looked at, but want to know a price so they don't rip me off.

cheers

yes, same issue. original tranny fluid. resolved issue by shifting sooner, or a little slower. will keep an eye out for the next 30k so miles or until I can find something better to go to the dealer for a check.

Hi zypher10 ...... :)

First off, I would suggest you "check" your shifting technique.

(remember, a warmer transmission is a happier transmission)

I would suggest that when shifting, wind up the last gear pretty tight (4-5,000 rpms) before shifting into the next higher gear.

Also, when shifting, pull (or push) the shift lever slowly and firmly into the next gear.

I suggest you NOT "lazy leg" it ……. be sure to push the clutch pedal all the way to the floor.

Check and make sure the clutch/brake fluid reservoir is full.

Also, you may wish to check the clutch adjustment.

If this technique doesn't help, you may consider changing the brake fluid and bleeding the system.

Your transmission may like some new (different) oil.

I don't recommend it. You don't strike me as a "Search, noob!" kind of guy either.

Like @humfrz said, let's leave that to the professionals. :D
