Bad Strut Mount Bearing
So, Ive had this clunking sounds coming from the front of my car for a while now. I just got around to checking out my steering rack this morning, but I eventually tracked the sound down to my strut when turning the wheel.
Im assuming this is due to a bad strut mount bearing. Im on Buddy club racing specs, and Im not sure what action to take next :iono: Will I have to buy new top hats specifically for my coilovers, or maybe replace the ball joints? |
You'd probably be able to get new bearings. Did you contact BC to see what they recommend?

Can anyone else provide input? No word from bc yet

Buddyclub asked me for some photos for their techs to look at a week ago, and they have still not gotten back to me... I sent a follow up email a few days ago as well.
does anyone know what to replace if it is a bad strut mount bearing? |
Complete top hat

If you've got the time and capability you might be able to remove the bearing from the strut mount and find a replacement for it. I can't imagine they got a custom bearing machined for that.

you sure it's not the spring binding?

would this <http://passwordjdm.com/Buddy-Club-P1...4Wo2AjtkNNNNbb> solve the issue? Quote:

When you turn your steering wheel, the strut also turns. It's possible that the springs are turning against the spring perch or top hat and making a "clunk", "boing", or "twang" sound.
There are a few ways to fix it. 1. You can spray white lithium grease like i did or 2. purchase thrust bearings that suits your coilovers. Above suggestion is assuming that the clunk you are hearing is the result of the springs binding. If not, check your top hat/upper mount nut. |
