Suggestion for a "new owners" topic

I think this would be a good idea so new owners can break the ice amongst themselves

Like the intro thread or like a place to ask whatever question you want without risking beheading?

Tcoat climbs on soap box:

We have an introduction section and reasonable questions are answered with reasonable replies. We also put together a general index of the most commonly requested info that new guys can be directed to.
Anything that causes issues in the other sections would cause the exact same thing in a newbie section as it would be the same people responding.

If new guys would simply read through some threads before popping up and demanding answers for the most basic of questions or making ill considered statements then much of the conflict could be avoided.

There are also all the new ones that show up for the simple purpose of trolling that spoil it for some of the honest but naïve guys. In the year and a half I have been here there have been at least 20 guys banned within their first week because they obviously had no reason to be here other than to stir up shit. This means that some poor guy that that really doesn't know something but phrases his question wrong can get lumped into this group. It sucks yes but again if they just read a bit instead of jumping into things they would have a better idea of what to ask.

I have been on several forum over the years and this is probably the best by far. It is a true community and like any community it is made up of people from all different walks of life and sometimes they just don't get along. To expect perfect harmony all the time is not realistic and anybody showing up needs to feel their way away around carefully before jumping into the fray.

This forum was started by true enthusiasts many of which are highly technically trained and for most of it's existence has been populated by like minded and equally trained people (look through the professions section and see what jobs most have) but as the car becomes cheaper in the used market we will see younger and less technical people owning it. If these guys truly wish to learn they will shut up and listen but unfortunately they are in the age group that feels they know everything. This is not my opinion it is a well documented fact that teenagers think they know better than anybody older. This will always lead to conflict on a forum made up by a population of Type A personalities.

I could probably go on for another 1,000 words or so but my point is that we are PEOPLE here not automated info providers or a captive audience for broadcasting an opinion without expecting or appreciating response and if new guys can't figure that out in the current sections then a special place just for them will not help.

Tcoat climbs back off.

Not arguing with you. I have just given up hope of people not wanting to be spoon fed info located 20 different places on this forum.

I think im going to respond to people like this for the next week or til I get bored. (http://www.iflscience.com/plants-and...e-whales-month)

And fwiw nasioc is about the worst site in the world so maybe that is why its needed. But they also have the most comprehenisve list of FAQs and tech info ever. This site is great but maybe not as in depth. Actually, maybe I'll get bored and do something about it actually.

Well your response would be totally in line with the effort some put forth to find the info before asking the question or making the statement. I support your decision and look forward to it's application.

I'm not against the idea... this is why I made my thread... but truth is, new member make new thread instead of reading current thread. Why they make new thread instead of posting on the current thread? IDK... but if you guys can get it going, I'll gladly stickie that thread.
