Gen3MR2's C Street (SCCA SOLO) Progress
You can find my YOUTUBE page HERE
So for a little background on my experience. As it goes with my name, I own a 93 Toytota MR2 with a Gen3 3SGTE. A few light modifications but with the swap it puts the MR2 in SSM....... So the plan for that car now is to be a track day car. I used it for autox in 2013 in a few tiny, not small, tiny events in Paducah, Ky. Maybe 10 entries. I took it to a few St. Louis events and fell in love with the more open course setups they had and went there a few times in 2014. At the end of 2014 that is where the FRS comes in. I bought it used, 20k miles, bone stock, in September on a Wednesday and took it to its first autox event on Sunday..... And from there I fell in love with her on the autox course. Sorry MR2 :( Since then I didn't miss an event in 2015 in STL and ended up in 4th out of 11. A single modification is what I did for 2015 and that was 225/45/17 Direzza Z2 tires, extra set of wheels so they were used only at the autox. But anyways this year 2016 I have a few more things to add. Mod list so far: 225/45/17 Direzza Z2 Koni Yellow (full replacements) TRD Springs Crash bolts No sway bars yet this year. I'm thinking about TRD front and rear since they are OEM legal now. I haven't decided on brake pads yet. I used Hawk Hp+ last year for the last 3 or 4 autox events and 2 track days and they didn't seem to fair well, the bite was great. I'll post up a picture. When I received them they didn't come with shims. So I called Hawk and they told me that they don't require them, so I didn't remove the old shims from my OEM pads and put them on the Hawks. Maybe you guys can judge from the pictures. What is your experience with HP+? What is your favorite pad? http://i.imgur.com/L7Rlrb9.jpg http://i.imgur.com/RMyj0xt.jpg http://i.imgur.com/E8nDqHS.jpg |
