Unmarry OFT after ecutek flash

Hey guys. So I'm an idiot, don't forget that.

I flashed ecutek for my FI tune a few months ago and forgot to unmarry my OFT (I was just excited, don't blame me). Now all these months later I decided to sell the oft. I have heard rumors way back in the day that Shiv could manually reset these once or twice. Is that true? Or am I just out of luck?

I guess I can use it as a coaster if all else fails.

Yeah you gotta email Openflash or call them, worst case whatever tune you were on from the OFT becomes your new stock tune lol.

Hmmm got a bit of drama

Shiv just resets the erase count on oft, he does not unmarry them i believe.

If you get your tuner to flash back a stock ecutec rom then you can flash back your stock rom from OFT.

Unfortunatly this is going to overwrite your ecutek licience in ECU. So then you will need to get ecutek lcience renewed before you can flash back your ecutek tune to ecu. Check you can renew your ecutek licience before you start.

Well I emailed openflash. They said the best they can do is ship me a replacement for $250. :(

I tried flashing my stock rom back with ecutek but the license was still encoded in the tune and OFT couldn't read it. Visconti tuned my car and I don't see him cooperating through the process so I'm probably just gonna not worry about it.

The oft wont read in a rom if its already married, it will only write roms.

unfortunatly if you write back your stock rom to car from oft your going to write over your ecutek licience.

hmmm I wonder if the following would be possible, if you had either A) a 2nd unmarried OFT (borrowed from another user) or B) a Tactrix cable with appropriate software.

1) Use one of the above to "backup" the FI Ecutek tune;
2) Write the stock tune from the married OFT back to the car, overwriting the Ecutek tune;
3) Unmarry/erase the OFT;
4) Use the 2nd OFT or Tactrix to flash the Ecutek tune back on the car.
5) Unmarry/erase 2nd OFT if needed.

or is there something in the Ecutek / OFT code that would not allow this?

It possible if you had a Tactrix

1. Flash Ecutek stock rom with ecutek to unlock ECU and allow writing by other than ecutek

2. Read the stock ecutek rom from Ecu with tactrix that contains Ecutek licience info. Save this for later.

3. Write back stock rom to car from oft to be unmarried from same car. OFT is now unmarried and can be erased. but you have just overwritten your Ecutek licience info

4. Write back the stock rom to ecu that contains Ecutek licience with tactrix that you read out in step 2. Hopefully fingers crossed ecutek will still take this licience info as its on same car same ecu same vin. (This is the bit i'm unsure will work)

5. now ecutek licience is restored to ecu, you should be able to write back your tuned ecutek rom (turbo rom) to ecu with Ecutek. (but ecutek may detect something is wrong not sure).

Its not going to work with a second OFT your going to need tactrix
