E-bikes and electric motorcycles

DAE like e-bikes here?

I've been thinking of getting a Haibike sDuro HardSeven, the $2500 entry level bare bones model that has a 250w Yamaha mid-drive motor. Just getting one mainly for fun or for running to the store. I live in an area with some steep hills and it would really help me get up them while still getting a good workout.

Check this video out at around 30:00 and you can see how well these can climb hills:

LOL Around these parts e bikes are almost the exclusive realm of the welfare lifer and suspended license crowd. I have no idea where they buy them since they are usually seen pulling a wagon full of cans.

I was thinking of getting one for the cottage though for the same reasons you stated.

Exactly... since you can get a decently reliable corolla for way less than that. It is still kind of a novelty.

So you need a bulldozer to get the cans there

Haven't looked at e-bikes but have given serious consideration to a eMotorcycle, in particular the Zero SR which has the range and such I would need for a commuting bike, and hard to beat the performance specs with a 0-60 time of around 3.5seconds.

I've even test ridden one. My biggest issue with them is the seat height. At 31.5" it's right at the edge of where I'm comfortable (can't get both feet on the ground), and not a good way to lower it. Also, since I missed the state incentives on electric bikes, it's hard to justify the price for the models having the range I need as the commute is 80 miles round trip averaging about 50MPH, and I would need a decent cushion as I can't charge at work.

Is a real motorcycle not fuel efficient enough for you?

Ha..fair enough.

I've owned several bikes through the last 30 years or so, the latest being a Honda 919 that I sold when I bought the FR-S. Really had nothing to do with fuel efficiency, just thought it was a good fit for my commuting habits as I probably wouldn't take a bike on a long road trip, and if I did I'd probably rent a Goldwing.

That's the other thing, for about the price of the Zero I could buy a almost new Goldwing.
