Long term reliability
 

I'm having a hard time on if I want to get a custom tune or not. I'm planning to stay NA just with bolt ons. (header etc.)
Does the off the shelf base maps really work for all cars and all Applications? I've been wanting to go to ecuteck and get a real custom tune. My main concern is reliability and long-term. Do you think OTS tunes from oft or going custom tune on ecuteck will be better for long-term?

The OFT tunes are fine if the car is your daily driver, however if you want to really push your car or go to the track a few times a year, or even just live in the high rpm range daily I would suggest Ecutek and having a shop that you trust tune your car conservatively for the track and have them set a a few street tunes as well to fit your needs. Or you could always use the OFT tunes for the street and flash your stock tune for the track/hard driving if you're that concerned.

NA with bolt-ons you're not into custom tune area yet, OFT will suit your needs nicely.

The OFT tunes or any tune from a reputable Ecutek tuner will likely be better than the stock tune.

tuners tune the car for the fuel used and it will in most cases knock less than with the standard tune. especially on anything but the best 93 or above fuels.

People who can only get 91 USA fuel or 95 ron fuel will definitly be better with an aftermarket tune

They both have the same reliability, but an ecutek tune will try and squeeze as much power out of the car because you've got someone working on a dyno with your car all day with way more time on the car. You seem to have a bias for EcuTek out of the box, honestly stick with openflash unless you go FI and if you really want a "custom tune"

Get off the shelf tune. They are good enough and perfectly safe . Maybe even safer since they are pretested. Dyno time is expensive and unnecessary
