Antenna Adapter Alternatives

Hello all,

I just installed a Pioneer double din unit in my FRS and I was wondering if somebody figured out an ALTERNATIVE to using the Scosche LSAAB antenna adapter. I live in Toronto, Ontario and have called a ton of places and nobody carries Scosche. They all just carry Metra.

Any ideas? any part numbers?

Thanks,

I had to go to ebay to get mine.

Thanks for the link. I guess I'll have to suck it up and pay 20+ dollars shipping for a 9.99 part lol.

Metra's 40-LX11 appears to be the part you need. In Metra's new printed catalog, the picture shows the adapter with one Lexus/Toyota antenna socket (connect to car's factory antenna plug) and a single Motorola male plug and BLUE power antenna control lead (connect both to your aftermarket HU).

FR-S needs the BLUE power antenna wire (for the antenna booster amplifier).

BRZ does not have the power antenna wire on the car's antenna plug -- Subaru puts that wire on the power/speaker harness.

The American International LX8 is configured the same as that Metra part:

Here's the Scosche LSAAB antenna adapter:

ADDED: This adapter has both "old" (black, 2002-up) and "new" (white, 2009-up) connectors to fit the Lexus cars' factory antenna plugs. Both are wired into a single male Motorola plug (HU side). This is designed so that one part serves either style of Lexus. They don't intend you to use both of the car-side connectors simultaneously.

CORRECTION: The Metra 40-LX10 has the same car-side connector as the black one on the Scosche LSAAB. The 40-LX10 does not fit either the BRZ or FR-S. Pic and link:

Pictures in Metra's printed catalog from 2011, on Metra's site (up until recently), and several online vendors show the 40-LX11 with dual male Motorola plugs and no BLUE wire:
Attachment 14240 (picture shown on Metra's site as of original date of this post)

UPDATE: I've seen an actual 40-LX11 and it's the same as the picture in the new catalog -- single Motorola plug with BLUE power antenna wire.

UPDATE 2: Metra's product page now shows the new picture (with single Motorola plug)

not as off 2013 the wire kit that hooks up the speakers and power is good, the beauty panels on the side is the same, but the antena hook up is a no go, my local bestbuy even argued with me about needing an antena adapter. I said that i already had the radio out and know what it takes :slap::mad0260:

Either the Metra 40-LX11 (after I or someone else can confirm it's now built the way Metra shows in their new printed catalog), or the Scosche LSAAB, or American International LX8.

Just FYI. I bought mine here with free shipping:

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...che-LSAAB.html

Got to me in about 3 days.

UPDATE: When I quote shipping to Canada, it doesn't list a shipping method or a price... Maybe give them a call and ask about shipping costs.

I've seen an actual 40-LX11 and it's the same as the picture in the new catalog -- single Motorola plug with BLUE power antenna wire.

If you order one online, you'll need to ask the seller to verify that's what they will send you -- some may still have old stock that is like the last picture I posted above.

Be careful when you order for the BRZ. There may be two different models for the 40-LX10 like there is for the LX11. I ordered the LX10 from Amazon and received a black adapter (above pictured is white). This one does not fit the BRZ. I am not taking my chances and I am ordering the LX11 with blue wire since there is a picture of the inside and its been confirmed to fit the BRZ.

Thanks for the update. I had received some bad information on the LX10. I've edited my previous post.
