Quiet full exaust setup

I recently put a sprintex kit on my car and am looking at the best options for exhaust.

Obviously the best option is header back but i'm a little worried about noise levels and don't wan't to be the guy who wakes the neighbours.

Are there any suggestions out there?

I was thinking of running this kit which is locally produced to me. Its quite cost effective and my thoughts were to install it and then visit a muffler shop and ask them to make it quiet:

The other option i was thinking of was headers+catback from the same company which would result in this, (and again see a muffler shop to tone it down a bit if its too loud)

I am also open to other suggestions. i've heard the blitz exhausts are very quiet but very expensive.

Do you want a full header back system? Or just catback? Which specific parts do you want? I'd assume if you're boosted you want a full exhaust?

I would say to keep your stock mid pipe and muffler since that would be your quietest option. though, I just don't know if it will be restrictive for FI applications (it's not restrictive for NA). then just change out your headers to front pipe to get rid of the cats for best flow. there's a video somewhere on youtube with UEL headers and the stock catback. it's obviously louder than stock, but not too loud

The stock catback is quiet, and it flows quite well.

If you run catless header and a hi flow metalised cat or catless front pipe it going to be loud, with virtually any aftermarket catback

(turbos are good at reducing sound, but your SC)

if you want quiet and have catlees header overpipe and hi flow front pipe just keep stock catback, the loss in power will be minimal. You can change the tips to make it look aftermarket.

Get your tuner to mod the tune for quiet startup and you wont wake the neighbours either.

I have full catless setup and greddy sp elite. Super quiet until you wot and 4K+ rpms. Sounds great.

I've been very much debating the Sp elite..or supreme sp as it is now called to couple with my EL headers. Do you have EL or UEL? I've narrowed it down to the Greddy or this one from some French company in Quebec: http://www.lachuteperformance.com/en...4-brz-frs-gt86

Which one do you think would sound better?

ps any clips of your car? (if you have EL headers that is).

I have stock cat back with a decat front pipe. Volume is close to stock but with a bit of crackle at high revs. No drone. But it is noisy on cold start

wise345 02-06-2016 10:32 AM

I'd stay stock catback/catted headers/catted Frontpipe. Be pretty quiet

I am running the FT86SF Catted UEL header to the stock OP to the motiv catted FP to a greddy supreme sp cat back and it is a very mild exhaust.

Just enough so that you get a little rumble but quiet enough that when you are cruising at a steady RPM you can barely hear it.

Keeping catted headers will make a huge difference

Ace 421 350 collector + ace FP. The header produces a faint subtle rasp coming from the front of car as you might hear in the clips below. Very crisp.

You don't need cats in the system like a lot of people are telling you. You just need a quiet muffler. Stock muffler + catless doesn't work well at high rpms and wot as it rattles and rasps awefully. Q300 or sp elite would be your best bet if you want to go catless.

I have ace header and overpipe, JDL ultra quiet front pipe, and invidia q300 and it sounds amazing, and mature. I am Jackson racing supercharged. The stock catback on the same setup was indeed quiet, but had some awful buzzing sounds at several rpm ranges. Sounded really bad, and ricey

Ahh thank you so much for those videos! I'm guessing that is your car? I also have an Ace 421 +150+front pipe and I definitely get that unrefined buzz/rasp that you guys are talking about. You wouldn't happen to have any exterior audio clips of the car would you?

I'm ok with the way my car sounds now but i'm trying to add something more. More of a refined wail I guess (i might be asking for too much out of a 4 banger).

Heres a video I found and this guy managed to create a very unique sound from his berz.. He has EL headers but they are namelesses long step ones which come up in front of the pulleys and then back down.

He actually replaced his mid pipe with the stock one and it really reduced the rasp. Theres a video of it before hand and it was god awfully loud/buzzy.

Totally agree with you about the buzz sounding ricey. Wouldn't happen to have any clips would you ? :D

Forget the neighbors! LOL. Build your car the way you want it. It's not like you will be hitting the rev limiter when you pull out every morning. LOL. They only hear your car for a second. I have an EL Long Tube header with a full, catless Titanium exhaust. The only thing I've ever got from my neighbors are waves and how awesome my car sounds. LOL
