RIP Dave Mirra

Incredibly sad. Throughout my teenage years I idolized this dude. I was really into BMX and religiously watched the X-Games. This guy was my hero (along with others like Ryan Nyquist and Matt Hoffman).

Looking like it was a suicide. Hard to believe that with all the good things he had going for him that he would want take his own life. Goes to show, you never really know what someone might be going through on the inside.

I saw this too... Any suicide is sad but with someone like this it makes you wonder why? :(

Yeah I know. He had a wife and two little girls, numerous x-games medals, and he was currently a competitive tri athlete I believe.

I haven't been following him lately so I don't really know if he had anything coming up that would've cause him a bunch of stress:iono:

Saw someone make a good point on deadspin about concussions and their ties to suicide... Not saying that is the why behind it, but that possible connection is there.

Sad no matter what the reason though...

I follow him on IG and as of recently I didn't see too many posts. But not too long ago he was always posting his cycling and running training. He seemed very focused on it. Could have been his get away from whatever problems he may have had or been dealing with.

I haven't done much research on the topic so I can't really go to conclusions. All I know is that he died, and it was a suicide.

Oh wow never thought of that. I can see how getting your brain rattled around for a good portion of your life could possible have an effect like that though.

Yeah. Regardless of the reasoning, it's really sad. I can't imagine what his wife and daughters are going through.

Same here. I think I still have it actually lol (I hoard my video games)

Time to dust off the old PS1, play some Dave Mirra, and listen to Sublime. Better than pouring one out IMO

Precisely why this needs to be investigated thoroughly...

Agreed. His family may not want the intimate details released to the public though.
