Cop pulled me over and ask why it was so loud. I told him "because racecar" he laughed and walked back to his car then took off.

LMAO I have been pulled over probably 12 times in 3 years now. 0 tickets  probably 8 times have been for a dirty license plate cover and they just want to run my plate. Other times I swear the cops just wanted to check my car out. Doesn't happen much now that everyone in Calgary has a FRS

I've been pulled over twice since driving. Both time got tickets. One was doing 75mph on the freeway when I was keeping with traffic. I was in the carpool lane and he thought I didn't have someone in the car. I had my little brother in the back and he couldnt see him. So he wrote me for speeding. Fucking fuck.

Had cops show up at a meet before, they told all of us to pop our hoods. In the US police do not need a search warrant to open up the hood of your car. If you have locks on your hood that requires a key to open then they need a search warrant.

Treat them respectfully and they usually move on. You're doing something right.

Yeah that is so true! I am always super nice to them.

While we are on this topic apparently my car was so loud it scared a old lady off the road.

Okay so there is this carwash not far from my house and this awesome sweeping corner goes by it. So I was all excited for this corner but a SUV came into my lane and was in front of me. normally I wouldn't care but this lady was going like 30kph in a 60 zone. So as we get to the corner I had enough and dove down to the inside lane (yes its 2 lanes but my exit is on the outside right after the corner) anyways so I blew by her and came back up into my lane (gave her lots of room I am not a d*ck) then I get a phone call like 30 seconds later. It was my dad... who happened to be waiting in line at the carwash and saw it all. He was pissed at me because apparently my car scared this old lady and she drove right off the road. She was going slow and didn't damage her SUV or anything from what he told me. What are the odds of that happening and him sitting there to witness it all hahaha!

Edit: I should add that I do feel bad about that

gatorbushmen 02-03-2016 06:33 PM

Tomei UEL, Catless Frontpipe, and Tomei 80. Wasn't even trying to be loud.... Still got pulled over haha

Surprisingly enough, my Greddy Evo 3 catback with stock header and front pipe droned much more than my current setup.

I don't know of anyone actually getting pulled over here in Tennessee, the last I heard someone getting pulled over for being loud was because of his loud ass music. My "friend" posted on facebook about it.....what he didn't tell anyone was that he had a SICK nasty setup in car.

I had a dumb bitch on her cell phone, she was going 30 in a 40, I got irritated because my ass had to be at work, so I downshifted and passed her going 50, and my car got loud af.

I knew she was on her cellphone because as I passed her, SHE WAS TEXTING!!!!

DJCarbine 02-03-2016 07:44 PM

Had an N1 with uncatted UEL, cop pulled me over a block from my house and started yelling at me about how he doesn't have time for this shit and how he could be doing something better. Backup shows up and they just sort of watch.

Then, everyone left. No ticket, just very confused.

Replaced exhaust with Q300 because I don't have time for this shit

Yeah the cop thought I was hilarious and let me go. I wasn't in the wrong anyways so its not like he could have given me a ticket

canadian cops are nice. cops out here, especially the CHP, see a modded car and instantly think you're part of the civic racer sick burnout tucked engine bay jdm life crowd. :( I haven't gotten pulled over in this car yet (knock on wood) but in my previous car, both times they had me pop the hood and started inspecting. one of them even pulled out a binder that had a picture of an engine bay and used it as reference LOL

I don't think being pulled over for a loud exhaust is a thing in the south. Every now and then you'll see guys going to get groceries in their open header V8 drag cars. :iono:

Never got pulled over in my 66 mustang, open headers + cam etc.

Really depends on your area and what sort of car guys the cops are lol

COO86L 02-04-2016 02:02 AM

I've got Tomei UEL and overpipe, uncatted front pipe and Perrin resonated catback. I've been pulled up but not for noise. Turned car off pretty quick and didn't leave until they had left. All was gooooood.
My housemates on the otherhand curse my existence of a morning :D

Icecreamtruk 02-04-2016 11:16 AM

Canadian police isnt always nice

My setup is catless EL headers, catted fp, AFE power catback (shit is as loud as N1 probably). All of it is 2.5"

I got pulled over for a loud exhaust. I wasnt accelerating, or trying to be loud, on the contrary I was trying to be as quiet as possibly. But, I was on a bridge (Jacques Cartier bridge in Montreal) and that bridge has quiet a long uphill so the car was still somewhat loud.

Police gets behind me, drives all along the bridge, then at the end of it, speeds up and gets right next to me and hand signals me to pull over. He then walks up to my window and says this (translation):

"I see you have a performance exhaust, but was it really necessary? Do you really need a performance exhaust?"

I had this look in my face like I wanna answer back and explain to him why it is needed, what a torque dip is, how I use my car as a track car every summer but in the end, I though it will only makes things worse. So I tried to distract him from it by showing him the muffler (yeah, the catback has a tiny ass muffler), the catalytic on the front-pipe and how it was all bolted nicely together no leaks no nothing, just slightly loud.

He just gave me the "but it is still louder than stock". once again I wanted to reply about how that is so much bullshit because there are stock cars wy louder than that but didnt say anything. He walked off, took a picture of the back of the car and came to tell me I'd receive the ticket by the mail (weird...).

That was almost 2 months ago, havent received anything *knock on wood* yet. I bought a TRD catback since, waiting on the 15 march to switch tires and catback all together.

Jesse36m3 02-04-2016 11:41 AM

I wasn't driving my brz but I had an bmw e46 zhp at the time. Catless headers and a full 3" custom tig welded exhaust my buddy made with a magnaflow dual chamber muffler out back. Needless to say it was very loud, but sounded sexy.

Fast forward a couple years and I get a job an hour away in MA, I live in RI. So I'm on lunch break with this chick I worked with. We were heading to Cumberland Farms for a coffee. It was snowing and I still had my "performance all season" tires on. Car is warmed up, great, ready to go. Cumbys is only 3 or 4 minutes away, should be back in time, no problem. I'm stopped first in line at a wildly busy intersection, ton of cars behind me and it's on an ever so slight incline. Light turns green and I gun it, spinning tire (snow) barely any traction and I just have the fucking thing pinned to the floor.. 7k rpm, basically a straight piped I6 .. shift to second and woahhh the tail kicks out.. kept it sliding all the way through the intersection and pull right into cumbys on the corner just after the revs settled down.

Immediately, as I parked and got out there was a local cop blaring the horn, cherrys and berries firing away. He gets out and just looks at me as I'm standing next to my car with the door handle in my hand. He says get back in. Okay .. two more cops show up. He asks if I saw him back at the intersection because apparently there was some construction. Nope I said, bad weather conditions and I was just trying to not get stuck off the line. He says no problem and walks away. 15 minutes go by and I see a flat bed pull up.

So me and this chick got a ride back to work (about an hour late) in the cruiser, dropped us off at the front door which was cool of him, my car got impounded, had to take the train home and find a ride to work the next day, and I never even got my coffee before 10am. What a shit day that was. Ended up getting my car out the next day after haggling with the dude at the impound lot for what seemed like hours.

So really, that was the only time I've ever been "pulled over" for my exhaust. Don't really get bothered much up here in New England.

LOL not if you do it right. It is only loud on cold starts (to the point to rattles pictures on my wall slightly and I park on the street) and over 3k rpm she screams but normal driving its not that loud at all.

Edit: just saw your in Calgary you can come hear it sometime if you would like
