I like the Auris name, but Toyota might just slap on the Matrix name on the iM assuming they do intend to change it, as the Matrix name was already established with the previous Corolla-based hatchback.

You guys that think you are going to get GT86 equipped cars for close to FRS prices are in for a world of disappointment. All BRZs are not top trim cars either even though some seem to forget this. All trims around the world be it 86, GT86, FRS or BRZ are the same fuckin' car people. Some just have a few extra things bolted on them. That does not make them better or worse, just different. Many, many people don't want all that crap. Scion is just in North America and although it may shock some of you to know this cars are sold and used elsewhere in the world. The death of Scion means nothing to the rest of the world. The world preferences and purchases do not revolve around North America no matter what you were taught in school. This is not the death of the 86. If the 86 dies it had nothing to do with the Scion badge. See above. Come on people get your heads screwed on straight and think before you start spewing crap about now being "rare" or "collectors items". It is still just a cheap sports car made for the masses. |

Have they actually finished producing the last of the actual Scion FRS before they become Toyotas? I really want to buy a model from the current generation and this news really messes up my plans to buy a new one. I don't want to buy used either or MY 2017 refresh look.

As I was catching up on the last 5 pages or so of this thread, it occurred to me that Toyota really missed an opportunity to shut down the Internet with car forum postings...
They should have announced they were closing down Scion, then an hour later announce they were rebranding all the cars EXCEPT the FRS as Toyota. The FRS would be the halo car for Daihatsu in North America! |

Takeaways: So for MY17 you'll still need to change FR-S to 86 but you won't have to waste money on Toyota badges as they'll already be there. Q What will happen to Scion products? A The following vehicles will be re-badged as Toyotas and will retain their names:
MY17 should be the last of the tyrannical monospec and questionable Pure Price. Q Will Toyota dealers still be using Pure Price and Pure Process Plus? A For MY17, the iA, iM and FR-S will remain monospec and a single price. After that, we will evaluate how pricing for those vehicles as Toyotas will be carried out. Regarding Pure Process Plus, it’s specific to Scion so it won’t be available at Toyota dealers. |
