Highly doubt it. American owners have wanted the Japanese branding for a long time (think Honda and Acura). Although starting next year it won't be a true GT-86, I don't see anyone wanting to defacing a Toyota badge for a Scion one. I'm sure there will always be fanboys that will do it for novelty purposes, but I think true enthusiasts have been waiting to see these things branded as a Toyota from the factory... I know I have, I would've even taken it over the BRZ.

I do however see current FRS owners trading their cars in once the newer/better model comes out, and switching them to Scion badges since they once had them on the car.

So if not bothered by the Scion badge a person is not a "true enthusiast"?
It is a badge that is it. It does not make the car inferior in any way shape or form.

Slight derail, immediately thought of this. Maybe its time to go Team Badgeless

Agree with you on badging, but objectively thinking about the FR-S or at least any regular FR-S being inferior, it kind of does, though only slightly. Because Scion uses no trims, the only way to get the HIDs, push-button start, etc. is to either get a special edition FR-S or a BRZ Limited. That's it.

Of course, save for the HIDs, none of that mattered to me.

Tell that to the guys who are already calling their cars "antiques" lol.

Toyota to scrap Scion brand, but FR-S will become a Toyota!

So I'm thinking the year that the FRS becomes a Toyota is the year the refresh will happen. That's the only logical way I can see the transition going

I would never buy a Scion. Awful car selection. Their showing at the auto show was laughable, a bunch of cheap ugly cars, and the FR-S.
That pretty much nails the definition of "halo car." Which is what the FR-S was always meant to be for Scion.

I am 100% with you on this. I bet it was planned years ago

Did anyone else notice on there plate renewal this year lists the frs's vehicle make as toyota?
I purchased my used 2013 FR-S from a Toyota dealership in May of 2015.

The invoice from the dealer, my vehicle tax registration, and vehicle registration all call the car a "Toyota Scion FR-S."

Even on NHTSA safety website Scions are listed under Toyota, not as separate make.

So I wonder, will it be marketed as the gt86 or just 86? Or they could pull off a Toyota FRS lol

Also will the trim now be upgraded to European spec?

I think the iM would be the New Corolla Station Wagon

This is very, very, shocking news honestly. Instead of the FR-S's becoming more valuable(if they every will) I think the TC's might. They are no longer making the TC. I think they're only bringing over the iA, iM, and FR-S.

I think they should try one year with the current generation model under the Toyota brand before giving it refresh look.

They are, it's just reintroduced in US but they have them in Europe & asia for a long time.

iM or I should say "Toyota Auris" are very nice looking in person compare to cars in the same segment. (There are 1.2L turbo version & Hybrid version of it that I know. O..O)
