I wonder if Hachi (Master admin) is going to change the titles of buttons and links on the forum to "Toyota FRS" now.
Wait, this isn't Random Thoughts. |

The magical badge fairy will swoop down on all our cars and debadge/rebadge for us overnight! |
Seems to me like a lot of people are eager for this consolidation. For me it is more bittersweet.
Toyota's brand never appealed to me, probably because of my distaste for the Celica and Supra. While I respected Scion's experimental methods and enjoyed the purchasing process, I never developed an enthusiasm for Scion's brand either. Nonetheless, my FR-S is the first car to my name, my choice, work, sweat, and dollars. So no matter how much I might enjoy more powerful and advance cars in the future, my little coupe will always have a special place in my heart. And whatever debate there might be about the genealogy of the GT86/BRZ/FR-S, mine is yellow and came with a Scion badge. It is at least some part Scion. So I am still sad to see its badge retired. Yet it is also sweet, to see the embattled brand finally laid to rest. Undeniable the GT88/BRZ/FR-S/FT86/2nd-gen-Hachi-Roku, or whatever you choose to call it, evokes a different feeling for each and everyone of you. But Scion gifted me with my SO's anger and envy, and it deserves at least a few sincere words from me. Goodnight enthusiasts. |

Wow! Big news! Great news actually! Scion is dead! Long live Toyota!
This should also mean no more PurePrice or MonoSpec BS so I might actually be able to get a higher trim model like you can everywhere else in the world, and be able to negotiate prices. Now Japan just needs to look into ridding the shady dealer add-ons. I've stopped by every Toyota dealer in my area and with every Scion FR-S they get, they load it with tint, pin-stripe stickers, cheap LED lights in the fog area, green tire valve caps/nitrogen, and other cheap add-ons for hundreds of dollars more. So I straight up told the sales reps that walked up to me, "No, sorry, I don't want it because you've loaded it up with all this garnish that I don't even want." And they said, "You're beating a dead horse. If you want our cars, you have to get our garnish." So I told them, "No, I'll just have to go to another state to buy from a dealer that doesn't do this crap then." |
