That argument is getting old. Fact is, that's a big reason why the car wasn't a huge hit in the states.

But none of that would need to change. My "Scion" has more Subaru stamps on it than it does Toyota or Scion. I'm literally just talking about the Scion badges on the car. They are already a mix of Subaru/Toyota/Scion stamped parts and such so all that could play out as is.

Quick, someone start working on a cartoon set in the future with 86's against future sports cars with todays ridiculous hybrid powertrains.

But it's still true. I agree that more power would have helped, but I question (because of the age of frs owners) how many sale they would have lost compared to what they would have gained. In some ways, in amaerica, the people who want RWD and power consider only two options. One is a horse, and the other wears a bow tie.

I don't think we can know for sure how much better it would have worked out. They won have ended up competing for buyers of the 370z, stolen some genesis buyers, and taken more v6 mustant/Camara buyers maybe.
I do think they might have had better sales, I just don't know by how much, and if it's as big as many seem to think it would have been.

If the car was 5,000 more, I personally could not have afforded it.

Production capacity and the fact it is a world car has a lot to do with why it is a 2.0L making 200hp. What would boost sales in the US doesn't necessarily work with the ROW.

No change, press release said so, and it was serviced by Toyota anyway.

Whoops, overread that. And I kinda figured they were covered by Toyota anyway.

Thanks

It already cost more than what they originally aimed at and it has ballooned up since then. I would argue about what people consider, as there is a wide range of available RWD vehicles with power right now. I know of a few potential buyers that turned away after a test drive. I know I did on my first test drive.

While it might not be as big a deal as it is here, it has been a "normal" observation the world round noting the cars power.

It may depend on what will happen with the face lift 86. Will it look better or worst? Will it have a small power bumper? Will it have any interior upgrades and new tech? Will the price go up? I think its too early to tell.
