AC cuts out at high revs. Cool feature?
BRZ 6MT Ltd.
I haven't done any close monitoring of when this happens, but yesterday I noticed that when the AC was on and I was running to 7.4K through 1-2-3 that at the very top of 2nd gear the AC turned off and my cool air turned warm and the fan cut back a little. I'm assuming that the ECU is programmed to understand that if you are wringing it out you want full power and it cuts the AC to do so. I don't see any mention of this in the manual so I wanted so see if others had the same experience. |
nice, another excuse to redline the car on the way home!

AC is designed to turn off at high RPM. Perfectly normal.

By design, not at all unique to this car or new :)
|
The A/C clutch disengages when the engine is under high load.
|
Most cars will cut the a/c when you step on the gas hard.
|
Question is, why are you revving it all the way to redline with the AC on anyways D;?

Yeah, most cars with EFI (like, since the 80's) have done this. It is just as much to save the AC compressor as it is to give you more power. -Charlie |
If you know you're going to be redlining it through 3 gears you shut it off anyways before hand :P
