Dealership playing games w/ price?

Quote:

Good Morning Matt,

Not a problem I will have my Locate manager check our in transit and our area ASAP. Also to clarify the car comes with a 5 year Power train warranty not the Xzilon Environmental Exterior and Interior package with the 5 year warranty protecting you from external and internal cosmetic damage such as spills, rock chips, etc. You are also pricing those add ons from the factory. This car was chosen as the Showroom car because of the traditional Subaru color World Rally Blue, and the add ons were added after arrival. After arrival add ons are more expensive than Factory add ons.

So just to make sure I am looking for the right car I am looking for a Premium BRZ with no extra add ons (wheel locks will be added to the car on arrival due to our open lot & location) in either WR Blue Pearl, Satin White Pearl, Dark Gray Metallic, or Crystal Black Silica, correct?

Thanks, Cristian

I'm open to four colors if you would like to check on what you may have incoming and get back to me with an ETA. I'd be interested in WR Blue Pearl, Satin White Pearl, Dark Gray Metallic, or Crystal Black Silica. The vehicle must be MT and I would prefer to do without the major options. Keep in mind, though, that if I will be in a position where I'll be waiting then the FR-S at the local Toyota dealer becomes the ideal option again as my out-the-door price there will be about $2,000 less once it comes in. Thanks again, I look forward to hearing back. Matt

I am not interested in the Limited trim. I am interested in the Premium only. The MSRP of the WRB Premium 6MT with chrome fender trim, deck lid spoiler, fog light kit, and wheel locks should be $27,242 and not $29,370. The 5-year power train warranty comes standard and I'm not interested in an extended warranty. I may add one at a later date before the standard warranty expires. Now, if $29k can be made the out-the-door price we'll be in business.

The car we have in the showroom is indeed the WRB Premium 6MT. The pricing online does not reflect the added accessories for showroom purposes. We have 3 other models currently in, all limted, 1 Black 6MT, 1 Red 6MT and 1 Red Automatic. I am not able to access our allocation to see exactly what is in transit but I do know we are expecting another 20 BRZs between now and September. We also have one of the most active locate managers in the new england and if there is a car out there that you want and commit to he will get it here and get it here quickly. Do any of these options sound doable?

Thanks, Cristian

I see. I'd actually sent the initial inquiry about the WRB Premium 6MT. The pricing suggested that it had minimal options. I'd have to assume your showroom car would be one of the Limited models w/ leather and key less ignition.

Can you tell me more about the other BRZs? I'm after the Premium trim with manual transmission and preferably nothing more than wheel locks as an option.

I'd also be curious to know of any you may have incoming. The black or dark grey are preferable for me but I would accept blue as well.

Thanks

As for this particular BRZ. This one is our show room car. It is available but it does have quite a few accessories on it. It has the Rear Spoiler, Fog Lights, Chrome Fender trim, Wheel Locks and the Outdoor and Indoor Environmental protection package with a 5 year warranty. The MSRP of this car as equipped is $29,370. If this option does not work for you we have 3 other BRZs in stock and more on the way. We are the largest BRZ dealer in New England and can get you the car you are looking for. On any other cars for you or your family we will be more than flexible and conduct business with complete transparency.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to assist you.

Thanks, Cristian

Hi Cristian, Hey, you can't blame a guy for trying!

I am very serious about this vehicle. I'd like to know which factory options it has equipped and would appreciate if you could provide me with an out-the-door price.

I'm also curious what Subaru's current financing rates are like. I've been working closely with my local Toyota dealership on obtaining an FR-S, the BRZ's mechanical twin. Their rates are fairly competitive at the moment. I know that rates are subject to credit approval but would appreciate a general idea.

Your BRZ's immediate availability is attractive to me. My family and I have purchased 8 vehicles in recent years from my local Toyota dealership but they are struggling to locate an FR-S in a color I would accept. That is why I'm looking around for BRZs.

I'm located in - so I'd like not to make the drive out there until I'm ready to wrap things up. However, if I am pleased with my experience my family and I tend to be very loyal due to the large number of unscrupulous dealers out there.

During the day email is the best way to reach me but my number is

I look forward to hearing back from you. Thanks, Matt
Would you continue with this dealership or move on? I don't agree with this add on business.

On the other hand, if you are hunting a BRZ in New England or the NY/NJ area and like what they're selling shoot me a PM and I'll put you in touch with this guy.

Are you at Georgetown Subaru in Norwalk by any chance? They yanked me around and lied about extra accessories to the tune of almost 1000 above MSRP two days before delivery. If you are there, go to Stamford or Dan Perkins, who were both much more straight forward with me.

i think its up to you man if you dont want any add ons or warrantys they dont sign the contract screw them today im picking up my frs yesterday it was too late so im going today but my salesman send me a txt saying i need to take gap,7 year warranty and lojack if i really want the car because everybody is taking the car this way with no exceptions so im planning on going today try to fix that if i cant then im walking away no biggie i know i really want the car but im not putting my finances at risk just for a car,the dealers know they have a "HOT ITEM" right now but i aint playing games ..by the way im approved by the bank already what happens if i dont sign contract w this dealer and walk away and then i go to another dealer do they run my credit again ??

Mazdaspeed 06-28-2012 11:40 AM

My rule of thumb: if something doesn't feel right in the deal it's time to walk. I know it sucks, but walking out on a deal has this magical way of clearing things up real fast. If they don't chase you down, they were almost definitely playing games.

This is all moot now...

I now own a brand spankin new Firestorm FR-S!

7 year warranty seems silly on a car that was designed with the intent of being modded. Not that a mod voids the warranty but it could be the cause of a denied warranty claim.

My dealer tried to push the extended warranty on me "first year car could have issues, etc" - after he wouldn't take a simple "no", I told him I'd be modding the car and a warranty after all the mods would be pointless. That shut him up.

If you don't mind, can you share MSRP & OTD price you finalized with?

I preordered on Feb 28 (Mar 1 in system). Agreed upon MSRP. That's what I paid. Dealer got some additional money from me at 3.99% interest rate, but I can always refi with a bank at a lower rate any time.

Thanks for sharing. Enjoy the car! :w00t:

Yea. They tried to add "adjusted market value" on mine. I pretty much walked out and left a remark on their facebook. Didn't name names, just stated how bad an experience I had and that I was lied to even though I had confirmed information.

Owner called me back and we fixed everything. I did get the warranty though because this is my daily driver and I'll be working on my Civic, lol. But I got 25% off.

SVTSHC 06-30-2012 10:52 AM

The problem was you were doing that through e-mail. Can't flip tables through e-mail. Grats on the FRS though .

sbxjap 06-30-2012 08:15 PM

Email is risky chance taking. It worked for me, but who cares! You got a brand new FRS to cruise in.

I spoke to him through email too! I was interested in the Red Limited AT... one of two that I've been able to find period. He told me it was a dealer trade and already had the enviro package and engraved VIN on the wheels... 695 miles. He was willing to discount the accessories but it was $32k+ already.

I honestly found their listing deceptive because it was listed for MSRP. If it didn't have that on it, I would have driven 200 miles there and back for it this Friday.
