Unsure whether you guys seen the following. Interesting idea should see service charges falling.

1:28 on the video - Hot Lava getting the cell treatment. Neat.

thats pretty cool! Only downside would be then you have to recycle those boxes instead of just disposing of the oil properly. In theory it would be nice to just buy a new box, return the old box and be done with it, but im sure some people would just throw the boxes away like they aren't supposed to do with the oil

The cartridge unit could work if an exchange system is in place where owners can get new for old.

I have heard that crawling under the car to undo the sump plug can bring on a case of bad shoulder :)

looks pretty neat. however, I expect oil changes to cost around $200 now with that system lol

It'll give them more time to do the non essentials like topping up the screen wash when it's already full!

Hmm, pull up to auto parts store, open hood, pull cartridge, go inside and exchange for new cartridge with oil of choice and filter with proper flow rates etc., go outside and drop it in, close hood, start 'er up and leave. Sounds good to me. Clean, quick, simple and don't need to deal with recycling of old oil because store and manufacturer take care of it.

The problem posed with this type of system is if the vehicle burns oil, there is no way to add any back in because the cartridges are sealed. The only solution I see is that they will still have to offer a oil fill...and if they do...they also have to offer a drain plug incase you over fill.

I don't understand this for our cars. This is the easiest car to change oil on that I have ever owned. I have owned 27 different cars and 23 motorcycles. This is the easiest. This seems an unnecessary expense. Even in an apartment parking lot this is easy. Just my opinion.

Old news for me. My dad works for Castrol lol! This is something that is going to be build into new cars in like 2020 or whenever they get around to it. It will be something more so for high end BWM, Audi and the likes. It is highly unlikely that you will be able to retro fit this system into a car.

looks to me like we just reinvented the wheel, just because we could.

I can see race applications or something I suppose, but for normal street stuff-it just seems like a larger expense.
