Someplace there is a whole thread on this. Geico raised their premiums a shitload across the board on all cars. It isn't just the twins.

HOOORAY it is the semi annual insurance premium d1ck measuring contest!
Unless you guys all live in the same house, have exactly the same driving history, are exactly the same age and are exactly the same person then comparing premiums does not mean squat. Not even to "compare" or "get an idea".

Well one can get an idea how disparate premiums can be.

And that has value for...?
Of course they are very disparate that was my point.
What a guy pay in downtown LA vs the dude Butfuk Idaho means nothing.
Hell, my own premium has changed by hundreds just by moving two blocks into a different zone.

Satisfying curiosity?

Some people just like to know stuff, even if it is of no practical use to them.

When I purchased my BRZ, I got quoted over $200+ a month for full insurance by several insurances, but stayed with Allstate, who I pay $120 every month to. I have so many discounts thanks to the amazing Allstate worker who wanted to be nice, so it should be 200+ still. I'm 23, never had a ticket or anything, but crashed (my fault) last year

Great post. I'll add that some people just like to say stuff, even if it is of no practical use to anyone!

Discussions about switching insurance companies always make me laugh. "I switched from Company X to Company Y and saved $200!". I'm pretty sure if they had changed from Y to X they'd have saved just as much. Its just a switching bonus to get your business. They all do it.

Many companies offer a discount for the first term and/or do not fully factor in all of your history in the first term. Then when your renewal comes, you see the impact of that stuff and many people are too lazy to make another switch.

Oh I fully understand the desire to know things but just can not wrap my own head around anybody being interested in what somebody else pays for insurance. What could I possibly care what a 20 year old in La pays? Why would that 20 year old care what I pay?
I guess my point actually is more along the line of knowing what somebody pays for curiosity sake is cool and all but don't try to compare that against what you pay.

It will give him/her hope that in so many years (some) things will get better for them ;-)

If they move to the same address, have the same driving record, exact same level of coverage, same training and other discounts and in all other matters are precisely the same as the other person then they can have hope. Otherwise they are just fooling themselves.

I suck at deciphering those things! Now I get it though.
