Interesting stuff... but makes me wonder. You make it sound like you get a signficant amount of downforce in front with these louvers. Assuming an otherwise completely stock bodied BRZ/FRS, if you install the louvers would more rear downforce be needed, or just recommended? And would the louvers be a good alternative to a front splitter? (For me personally, living with louvers in the hood would be a lot easier than dealing with the impracticalities of a big front splitter -- i.e. dealing with ramps, driveways etc.).

It'll depend on your preference, but you can also use a stiffer front sway to eliminate unwanted rotation, instead of a wing.

Can't wait to test them on track in a few weeks

Got them in yesterday. Was super nervous to do it. Measured a bunch but it came out off by like less than a 1/4" one side. Not super noticeable unless you're looking at it head on.

Love these! It is looking like they will be my next mod after I finish with my SC.

Tested them on track today, together with JR oil cooler. Ambient 73F, oil temps in 220s and the hood moved much less at 135mph than without them. Very happy, thanks @CSG Mike.

May I suggest, I think it is best to somehow cover your air filter to prevent water getting onto it.

Thanks, good point. I've used the "AEM 1-4000 Dry Flow Air Filter Wrap" for track driving in the rain even before louvers. I didn't check if the filter was more/wet - did you? (or anybody else)
I will check after the next rain run.

On a different, previous car I had, I covered the exposed air filter as a precaution. I didn't want to test for water reaching the air intake.

Otherwise, these vents look great and seem functional.

Finally installed these a couple weeks ago. Looking at my track data, they didn't lower my temps from the previous March and April track days. But it has not been really hot yet so I'm hoping when it gets up to 90+, these vents will help.

I received my TrackSpec hood louvers on Thursday of this week... Fast shipping and packaged perfectly.

I didn't get around to messing with them until today...I had unexpected visitors today so I couldn't finish... If the weather is good tomorrow, I hope to finish then.

I measured, then measured, then continued to measure... lol Templates are on the mark!

Btw, I called TrackSpec today to verify something about the install and wow... their customer service was awesome! I spoke to John... he really went above and beyond...

Installed!

Instead of using the supplied pop rivets, I opened up the predrilled holes to a number 30 hole then countersunk them. I used countersunk solid aluminum rivets (which I polished the heads) to secure the louvers to the hood.

Openings are pretty dead on! Pics are deceiving...

I love Clecos!

Like I previously mentioned, I opted for counter-sunk rivets instead of the provided pop rivets...

On my last event the temps were in the 90's so I was able to put these vents to the test. My max ECT temp was 219 and OIL was 259.

Relevant Details:
JR SC, e85. Koyo rad. No a/c condenser. No coolant (just water/wetter). 4400 feet elevation.
