Donate / Scrap / or ???

Our 20 year old Trooper has developed a case of 'water in the oil' ... Cost of rebuilding engine in parts alone exceeds the value of the truck [ assuming it's something as simple as a head gasket ] [Also the teenage son drove the truck with basically no coolant... so something is probably warped]

So the question is for anyone that has put an old vehicle out to pasture... did you donate or scrap ? It's currently leaking various fluids in front of the house... so I need to do something quick.

And please... no Joe Isuzu Memes !

Donate. Not like you are going to get anything for it. Don't know about there but here if you donate you get a tax receipt worth way more that you would get for scrap.

Also depends on the car. I would find it hard to justify claiming $5,000 bucks for a 20 year old car. I bet the value of that car isn't even worth $800. With that kind of deduction, it's not even worth it. Not sure what the junkers are paying now. But about 4 years ago, a junk yard paid me $300 for my 83' Rabbit. I guess metal prices was high at the time. A much bigger car could probably fetch more if prices are still inline.
