New 2016 Limited M/T questions
You guys were pretty helpful on my last question. After some searching, I'm hoping some 2016 owners can help again.
So I got a Black limited 2016 M/T after trading my 2013 DGM M/T. And there are some nice changes, but I am have some issues/questions/problems. The footwell light are cool, but is there a way to turn them off. Wanted to get a front offset license plate holder. any suggestions? Cant seem to get bluetooth audio to work. phone works. some of the apps work, like starlink and aha. Is it worth it to get a K&N drop in filter ? Thanks. |
I dont know about the footweel lights, those are optionals so not everybody has them.
Perrin front plate re locator is a great choice Yes, the k&n drop in filter is great. That was my first 'mod'. |
I have the Perrin plate relocate. The GrimmSpeed is good too... I honestly think the GS looks more solid.
Bluetooth audio is as easy as hitting the source selection and selecting Bluetooth Audio. If it isn't working, it's either your phone or your head unit fucking up. Maybe try deleting the phone in Bluetooth and pairing it again. If I remember right, a drop in filter is the best intake mod you can do to these. |
I can take care of your footwell light problem by taking it off your hands :D

I will chime in about the Bluetooth Audio. Its slow and sometimes inconsistent. For me it takes about 30 seconds after the car starts up to finally pair with my phone. It will also cut out sometimes for maybe half a second then come back in. It also only shows the first song that was played and does not update after that. As Luftwaffel said try restarting the syncing process and maybe that will fix the issue. The rest of the "infotainment" system works well it just seems a tad slower than some of the other systems out there.

I use the Grimmspeed license plate relocation without any problems. Once you go through the initial Bluetooth setup with your device, it should auto-connect if you have that setting enabled. |
I know how you feel about the footwell light! My car came with blue ones, and I didn't even know I had it till I got home after I picked it up. To make my eyes comfortable at night, I had to turn down the brightness of the gauges, but then I couldn't really see the gauges! I tried to live with it for a while, but I ended up taking them off after a week or so. They're plugged into a harness behind the radio, I ended up completely removing the wires, but the plugs were still there.

some phone audio players have an option under the menu for strict mode 'to help with some car audio systems'. If you have that option try it.
if you are having trouble pairing; welcome to the club. Aftermarket head unit seems the only answer. I gave up and I use an aux cable. |
Just get the Perrin filter and plate locate at the same time.

Thanks for the feedback. Was looking at the Perrin License Plate Relocation Kit, how is this thing in a car wash ? Also, I finally got the radio bluetooth to work. thx.
|
The easiest way to turn off the footwell lights is to unplug the connectors by the lights themselves. The connectors are a few inches of wire away from the lights and wrapped in adhesive foam tape. Peel the tape off and unplug the connection. I have blue ones in my '13 and hated them.

Just like any plate relocate, I wouldn't recommend going through a car wash with our kit. I've seen a few mangled after going through a car wash!
