I still think that the Exige S looks better, but this is pretty gorgeous and the front and rear look better than the original. It sounds sweet too. I'd love to drive this thing.

Also, has Edelbrock always supplied Lotus with superchargers or is this a first?

We test drove an Evora for a day a while back. Didn't really like it. Yes it's a nice car, BUT, just as hard to get in and out as the FRS, absolutely no trunk space at all, not enough reem for anything but a small over night bag at best. I carry a small tool box and two folding chairs in my FRS at all times. No way could this fit in the Evora. And a mildly supercharged FRS would perform just as good as a Evors. Bottom line is it's not worth the additional money to up grade. Infact if both cars were the same cost I would take a supercharged FRS over the Evora.

What Evora did you drive, specifically?

I want to believe you, but the power/weight ratios to your claim just doesn't add up.

(rough estimates)
FRS stock:2750lb/200hp= 13.8lb/hp
FRS "mildly supercharged": ~2800lb/260hp= 10.7lb/hp
Evora: 1395kg(3075lb)/395hp= 7.8lb/hp

Almost seems like the Evora is an equal upgrade interval between going from stock to supercharged to Evora. Dollar for dollar, however, the FRS is a total steal.

As for as trunk space goes, not really a dealbreaker to me (plus you can just get the 2+0 model if you want more storage space as the back seats are just as useless as the frs). The big deal breaker ultimately is the price tag. starting at 90k I believe, and for 90k the possibilities are vast for alternatives

But the styling.. Holy shit:bow:

honestly, if you're buying a lotus......trunk and cargo space shouldn't even be a factor.

It is if you can only have one car that has to do everything, including hauling groceries home.

Yes, we also love the styling, and with the wife being British she's always liked Lotus. So one friday night a Loyus dealer shows up at out friday night cruiz in with a new Evora. Wife says why don't we trade your FRS and my classic Mini Cooper in on one of them. The dealer brought the Evora out for us to drive for a day. After the day was over we just didn't see any advantage in trading.
I love the looks of my FRS, it handles good enough and goes fast enough for me. I have had all sorts of track/street cars that would have ran circles around the Evora and I want now is a nice comfortable fun car with a good air conditioning. Hell I van even fold the back seat down can haul home a 2x4 if I have to.

people who buy lotus don't just have one car.

General assumptions of course, but logically likely.

Re_Invention 01-26-2016 06:56 PM

I've looked at '10-11 used Evora pricing with interest for a few months. I figured Toyota V6, large enough for a 6 foot baffoon and 10x the luxury of an Elise sounds great and at $40k+- 10% is reasonable for a 12.5 second-quarter-mile mid-engine pure blooded sports car with pseudo-exotic looks. Then I hopped on LotusTalk and was scared straight. I thought, maybe the issues are getting blown out of proportion like the IMS with 911's or Cayman's...but when you realize how few Evora's were sold and how many active users there are on the forum.. :eyebulge: That was another moment where I realized I'm a casual enthusiast.

Lunatic - have you checked out an S model? Folks on LotusTalk swear that THAT is what the Evora should have been from day one. I think they are around $50k nowadays as well.

CSB.

Then you aren't the target market for Lotus. Minimalism.

No right now we're not. We're foot loose and fancy free, Living full time in a big Diesel pusher with a enclosed car trailer just out of Palm Springs. We are kind of track bums, being able to load up the FRS and head for any track any time we want. So while we do have more than 1 car, when we're on the road one is all we take.
