Need a new MAF sensor...
Hey all. I have a JRSC and I've been periodically been getting a rough idle... Reading through threads people were talking about the O ring so I decided to check out my MAF sensor. When I took a look I saw that a bit of it was cracked and a piece ended up falling off. Suffice to say this is probably where my problem came from.
I'm looking to get a replacement MAF without spending an arm and a leg. I saw a few part outs from crashes on Craigslist, but that's about 30-40 bucks worth of gas to get there and back and so financially doesn't even make sense. Anybody have one or know where to get one for less than $100 bucks? I'm gonna call around to Pick and Pulls, but I highly doubt they are gonna have any of those and based on research the MAF is unique to the twins and now the Subaru Crosstek XV 14-15 models. TL;DR - I need a cheap MAF sensor. HALP. :thanks: |
Ur JRSC had came with new o ring, if you haven't replaced it than check extra parts if u saved them. If not call Jackson ask if they can just sell u 1 o ring. If you want brand new maf I'd get it from dealer.

I recommend a brand new one. Those things are delicate. I just added a TRD intake and touched my maf all over. Guess my oily hands(?) messed it up. Had CEL on for a few miles nonstop, so I just got one from dealer for $150. Originally like $300??? Toyota dealer wanted $289 (and it was special order), Subaru dealer sold it for $150.

stockton craigslist has a totaled one listed by a yard. rollover but MAF might be OK

Won't spend a buck fifty to make sure a $5k upgrade on a $25k car works properly.

i ended up ordering one off ebay from a wrecked one. thanks though.
also i'm pretty sure it has more to do with needing a new o-ring. the plastic on mine that is cracked sits in the hole, it's not the part that seals it. i've had the strange idle even before my jrsc install. it's just more pronounced when/if it happens. and it seemed really bad especially the other day i think due to the heavy rain. anyway. i have a new o-ring courtesy of csg and my replacement maf will be here today i think(even though now i don't think i necessarily needed it). thanks for the comments that were productive all! |
Yeah, ebay is a good source for MAF replacements. I bought a few of them during my BMW days. If your MAF is just dirty or oil fouled get a can of CRC MAF cleaner before spending coin on a new/used one. You just need to spray the sensor in it and it's good to go. Recommend a clean highly if one uses a performance filter or FI - consider doing every oil change.
