How long should I wait to re-Supercharge?
So serious question. Had a Sprintex 210 on my '15 FR-S. Put it on at 7.2k miles, aka well out of break-in. Car was totaled and was able to salvage the charger (without the intercooler), but I have another intercooler in the works.
How long should I wait to put it back on - or when is the most optimum time/mileage to let the motor break in? Car currently has 350 miles on it. kthxbai. |
New engines come broken in for the most part now a days. I would wait 5k km's just to be sure you have no issues that you might want warrantied
|
I'd say 5-10k miles for a couple reasons. See if any issues arise, enjoy the car for the NA, and also to save some money in case anything does pop up once you put the kit back on.

351 miles

All jokes aside, I'll probably give it till the first oil change. N/A sucks. Time to drive 6k mi in the winter. |
Yeah the first oil change should good enough.

Follow the manual instructed break in of 1K miles
|
The JRSC went on the CSG BRZ with 899 miles on the odo.

In my family we believe 5k.
In racecar family they wait until they get home from the dealer. Manual somewhere says like 1000 miles. I'd just wait until first oil change at 3,500 at least. |
i say 1000, change oil, throw on the supercharger, smile

Race motors get hammered with no break in but they have been clearanced, and blueprinted. Stock motor is really up to you I've bought brand new cars and hammered them from day one with no problems. I also have done the break in procedure on new cars. They all went 100k + until I traded them off with no problems. IMO its the maintenance that saves the motor not the break in.
