Backup camera for parking?

Anyone ever thought of using a backup camera to avoid curb rash? Where would be the best place to put the camera? Any other concerns about it?

Like on the sides of the car under the mirror like Nissan?? Or you mean a reverse camera on the trunk?

Under the mirror seemed like the only place you'd get a good viewing angle but I thought I'd see if any one else had any thoughts. I didn't know any companies had already done this

Yeah Nissan and I think Honda does it. They have a full all around car view thing its kinda neat.

No need to go high tech; just get some curb feelers :D:

hahaha! Well maybe you could get a birds eye cam and mount it up on the roof or something? It would look odd though. Or maybe mount one on the underside of the side skirt and provided it doesn't get too dirty it might work?

I considered the second one. Does the Bespoke system work with a camera?

Yeah you need an adapter that Beat sonic sells here: http://www.beatsonicusa.com/bcus3.html

Sorry; it just popped into my head and I couldn't stop my fingers.

On a serious note, on all my other cars, I usually just point my side view mirror down. I haven't tried it with the FRS yet, though.

Another low-tech thought: if that doesn't work, why not get one of those small, wide angle, stick on mirrors but point it downward instead of sideways? I guess I am just reluctant to tack on electronic doo-dads...

I need the side mirror for traffic and it's too dark to see the curb when I need it, I hate how stick ons look, and if I stuck a camera in the mirror facing down it would be invisible from the outside.

How do these things activate? Do you have to fiddle with the head unit to get to the "camera screen" or does it switch automatically when you put it in reverse?

I'll added a front facing parking camera specifically to see approaching curbs before they hit my lip / bumper. It wasn't hard to integrate with my backup camera, and works great with a manual toggle switch that i hid in the console.

All you really need for front/side views area front facing camera(s), and a multi camera input box like the one here. Usually side views are activated via wiring to signal stalk, and manual toggle button.
