Diode Dynamics Angel Eye Kit for 2013-2016 Scion FR-S
 

Hello everyone.

Has anyone purchased the angel eye kit from diode dynamics? I purchased a Diode Dynamics Angel Eye Kit for 2013-2016 Scion FR-S http://www.diodedynamics.com/store/l...t#!prettyPhoto and received it today. It's a Multicolor SMD LED kit, I didn't select any option for the extra RGB controller or and LED switch add-on kit. Total came to $60 before shipping. I didn't select any of the options because it says the standard 24 key remote is included. At first I thought it was a nice simple kit but after looking closely, it seems I'm missing half the package. On their website it says the kit includes a wiring harness, red led toggle switch and a RGB controller. I'm assuming the the box is the wiring harness. My wiring knowledge is limited, (the only wiring job I've done so far are foglights.) It might just be me and my lack of wiring knowledge, but it seems I'm just missing a feel parts. Not here to bash on Diode Dynamics, just here for advice. I threw in some pics of what I received in the mail. Thoughts?

You are correct that the kit you received is incomplete judging by your photo. I have the Bluetooth variant of this kit installed, and it came with much more.(minus 24 key remote) I can recall that the toggle switch was a extra option when I ordered these last year.

Ahh Thanks. I've contacted them and waiting for a reply. I wanted to do this project over the weekand, not sure if I can anymore. :cry:

I have these.
the RBG controller employed is standard, there are other places you can get them. I have a IR one now, I tried the Bluetooth one, the BLE interface was not worth the hassle imo.

as for those rings, make sure to use that box they send with it, the rings do not have integrated resistors, so if you skip that box and use a full duty cycle those LEDs will burn themselves out. Long story short, don't skip the box.

Another consideration with these is if you want to run lots of them you make need an amplifier, which last time I checked, (its been a year atleast so this may have changed) DD did not sell, but you could get from other retailers.

one controller can run their angel eyes, and 2 bulbs, but if you try to run strips too, for example interior mood lighting off the same controller you will need a signal booster amp.

GL with your project. another thing you might ask DD is diffuser rings. I got a set but have still never installed mine.. too many projects...
