Aftermarket Calipers close to OEM?
 

I want to change the calipers on my frs for looks wanting to powder coat them teal. Every forum I've looked into either has an sti brembo swap or bbk kit. Wondering if there are any aftermarket break kits that replace all 4 calipers, I'm not interested in any company in particular as long as it's good quality same or slightly better than oem. I do a good bit of spirited driving but also want a little bit of flare. Also BBK from the brake thread I read causes clearance issues with some wheel set ups. Any help is appreciated, thank you.

Why not just buy a set of OE equivalent calipers from someplace like rock auto, and have them powder coated.

I think OP wants monoblocks for looks. I can’t think of any aftermarket monoblock sets that aren’t really hardcore BBKs.

Still need more spoke clearance than stock wheels provide I think. You’ll need a spacer up front.

I’ve heard iffy things about wilwoods on track (metal deforming), but if you’re not tracking these are probably what you are looking for.

@Yoshoobaroo that is exactly what I was aiming for not a BBK as I won't be tracking the car for a couple of years and with my future plans of FI being between 270-310 hp from what others have sad in the forums I don't need 18 but I was thinking of 17x9 maybe between titan TS-r or Volk racing te37 @norcalpb those are also an exact match to what I was looking for slightly leaning towards this one since it comes with everything needed.
Not sure which one I can run without spacer, also not breaking the bank. Giving the girl a refersh now that she is reaching 100k miles.

I'd say it's the opposite with the Wilwoods, they're more of a track oriented setup. I'm using RR's stage 2 kit (Superlite forged 6r caliper) and it can be difficult finding a pad that won't squeal on the street. I think the caliper is so light that there's just not a lot of mass to dampen the squeal. Combined with the lack of dust boots and it's not a friendly street setup IMO, more of a budget track setup.

On the plus side, I've had zero issues with mine on the track and this is probably the cheapest BBK from a consumables standpoint ($80 trackable/progressive Wilwood pads + $80 Centric blanks).

@DarkSunrise I see anything you would recommend for a more street/spirite driving. Since I am changing the brakes all together wanted to get some nice monoblock colored calipers thinking the yoshoo linked might be the ones I may need to get. Just not sure about fitment for wheels since he mentioned I may need spacers, I am running stocks wheels atm.

At a first glance (and without having tried them), those look like they could be a good choice for what you're looking for. If I'm not mistaken, those are the OEM Subaru calipers from the 06-07 WRX. That means they should be reliable, quiet, and have dust boots so a good street setup. Just be aware those don't actually upsize the rotor so they're not so much a BBK as a caliper upgrade.

Lastly you should look into whether those would change the brake bias.

@DarkSunrise that was one thing I was thinking about was the brake bias it was mentioned a couple of times when I researched finding close oem monoblock calipers. A lot of the previous post mentioned track which led to either better pads. How would I find out about the brake bias? The subaru one only has 1 review

There’s some info floating around on them. As far as I can tell, but not confirmed, they shift the brake bias slightly forward, and you need a ~7+ mm spacer up front on stock wheels.

They actually decrease clamping force on the rear and offer no extra thermal mass so don’t expect any performance increase whatsoever. For performance you’re much better off with pads and fluid.

I'm beginning to think what I want to do is rather difficult without buying some crazy expensive BBK

How about painting stock calipers?

I think your safest bet might be finding used performance pack brembos.

They’re typically barely cheaper than new parts, and you can’t fit those under stock wheels either.
