SCION FRS AND SUBARU BRZ Fender Flare Rendering

OK guys we at Forjworks is pushing ahead for building parts for the FRS. One of the project that we should have by Sema is the fender flares.

We are not sure how popular flares willbe with the FRS and BRZ.. but we figure we just take a chance to see how it goes.

We already did the 3D scans and are doing the 3D modeling and CAD design right now..

The design will allow for the flare to be double sided taped on..

One question that we have is would it look better with the indentions for the mounting screws. we can simulate the screws to give it the effect..

what your your thoughts..

we came accross this photo and figure we try to run with it..

I for one would not double side tape an over fender on any of my cars... I would recommend following what Greddy did and have pre drilled holes for fastners/rivets... Imagine hitting a speed bump and your fender fell off... kinda annoying! or going down the road and it flies off... really annoying! Also I would look to a complete fender extender and not just a universal looking part. You will sell more if it doesnt look like something out of an APC catalog... Just some constructive criticism. Keep up the good work!

Thank you for your input. we are just thinking for those who dont want to as far as drilling holes in the brand new cars.

That why we were thining of making the indentions for the screws so it can give those that want to bolt it on that option.

Right now i can not post up the mounting system design..

you problably noticed alot of parts are double sided taped on like spoilers and body kits. I dont know if you have ever tried to remove something thats been doublesided taped on with the right tape.. we have cracked spoilers trying to remove them.. and these spoilers are way heaver than a fender flare.

What we forgot to mention is the flares will be vacume formed in house by us and made of very flexable polocarb plastic aka lexan. So it will be way more durable than the normal fiber glass flares on the market.

this is an eyelid we made for the XB.. with the right paint the paint would flex off or crack..

Make 'em much higher in the back like the Greddy one.

is there any interest in flares?

pyro530 08-29-2012 01:18 AM

I'm honestly not interested myself.
I can't speak for everyone we have already seen several members who were able to fit a 10" wheel on the rear of this car.
As far as body parts go, I am hoping that someone comes out with some lightweight carbon or Aluminum fenders, boot lid, spoiler, rear diffuser ... heck even door skins or a roof panel would be sweet..

I like the look but i think the greddy style looks better on this car. If you stick with this design then yes the screw holes look better than the smooth.

what you guys think now... i personally dont feel it!

im actually liking that^ . i love the idea of double sided taping flares on, im confident the tape will hold. my friend has a duck bill spoiler on his 350z that hes done speeds of over 100 in and the thing is still solid. BUT to fit a wide wheel im assuming we would have to cut away the fender arch sheet metal , at that point drilling holes into the body shouldnt be a problem lol.

-also the lexan idea is great. i wanted to do flares on my old sti but most of them were available in fiber glass which seems easy to crack

jstans84 10-14-2012 04:50 PM

Not feeling it at all. IMHO it looks tacky.

Brimford 10-14-2012 06:34 PM

Yeah im not really liking it...

Lee358 10-14-2012 07:18 PM

no thank you rocketbunny kit would have my money if i was going to do anything like this.

You need to stop the flare at the rear bumper seam, and follow the body line more in front of the arch. If you can make them affordable and attachment good then people will buy.

Watching this with interest... just spotted this Mustang shot from SEMA and I would love to be able to do something like this on my FR-S.
