I need help with activating FOG Lights
 

Hi everyone, I recently bought a 2015 BRZ MY16 and have read the manual in order to enable the fog lights and headlights. I managed to successfully enable all the lights except the thin strip light on top of the round fog lights (see picture). Can someone please help, I looked everywhere!!

Those are your daylight running lights. They will always go off when you turn the headlights on. If headlights are off they will also go off if the car is in park (AT) or the parking brake is pulled (MT).

Diode makes an "always-on" module for the brz! With this module installed, it will keep the DRL strip on even when your headlights are on. You can find the link here:

Can we get an always off? DRL's are so annoying.

DRL are there for function, so that one is better visible/noticeable, which often serves well and is needed even in daylight, not just in dark. Some countries even mandate always on as required (though in earlier pre-DRL days they simply required for main lights to always be on). I'm not so sure it's worth disabling permanently just because you have taste that it visually seems worse to you. It's safety feature.

DRL are a safety hazard. Since so many cars have them it makes spotting motorcycles more difficult. Also so many people forget to turn on their headlights because the DRLs are providing some light. DRLs were one of the worst ideas.

Do you have any evidence to back up your claim that they are a safety hazard? The NTSB and IIHS disagree with your statement, as do safety statistics on the subject.

I also disagree, and I am also an avid motorcyclist. Heck even motorcycles operate with headlights always-on. Cars using the same safety principle doesn't detract from motorcycles, at all. It simply makes it easier to see everyone. If you are having trouble spotting a motorcycle, it's because you aren't looking for them. That's your responsibility to pay attention as an operator. Don't go spreading false information to make yourself feel better.

If you would like to disable your DRLs, that's your choice. That doesn't mean they're dangerous to others.

People drive through rain and fog around here without using lights as it is. I’d rather those with newer ones have DRL’s at the very least for those unsafe circumstances because that kind of DRL cannot be so simply disabled.
