Ticking/Rattling noise at idle.

Just had a the Corsa exhaust with Motiv front and overpipe install. I have this ticking or rattling noise when at idle. Not all the time and it can stop. It seems to be at a constant pace when it does do it. Could it be an exhaust leak or maybe the overpipe is knocking against something ever so slightly? Standard exhaust noise? The noise is coming more from towards the front of the car.

Also it should be noted this is an Automatic and it also happens only at idle in D or 1st gear at a complete stop with the brake pressed in. Doesn't happen in P or N with the brakes or at any speed.

Thanks for any insight into this.

I reckon it is most likely a part of your exhaust hitting on something. Sounds like the engine is torqueing over just enough for the exhaust to make contact with something.

You indicated you had the exhaust parts installed. I'd suggest that you take it back to the installer and ask them to check it out.

Bubby says to get it up on a rack and take a crowbar and push over any part of the exhaust that even looks like it might touch something else ......

That's what I thought. I'm taking it back to the shop to have them check it out and give it a look. It kind of stopped now but was doing it earlier so in the day and does it a bit when accelerating. Thank for the advice.

Edit: Took it to the installer. Ended up being the overpipe hitting the sway bar. Took care of the issue and all of the noise is gone now.

Is it possible you're just hearing the direct injection sounds that come and go with this engine?
