Is this going to be a "must have" from the Toyota range? Closely followed by the Twin with the Supra trailing in 3rd place..

whoa that's awesome. love the side profile. would def get one if given to the American market. even my 2010 sedan is fun to drive. and after following gazoo and wrc over the past few years the Yaris badge has become really cool. something about lightweight reliable compact grocery getters...

was really hoping for the previous one to make it to the states

One of my least wanted or needed things, AWD.

Maybe if I lived on a dirt road, but I don't.

Also looks weird, the front doesn't match the rear in my opinionated opinion.

Big no from me.

I think it's come about due to homologation requirements to get the Yaris rally car qualified for WRC!! Much like the old Celica GT-Four etc...

more yarii for us!

why? 12-20-2019 06:28 AM

It depends on the price. The Yaris is a great platform for racing, and I am sure this car is a million times better. However if is as much as a Civic Type R I'm not interested.

And odds are they won't send it here, although hopefully the success of the Fiesta ST might convince them the US will buy enough of them. If it is in that price range, I'm totally buying it.

Ok... I've just had an emergency swig of alcohol which I didn't need but it was on an empty stomach so ....mmm..
Anyhoo.

Firstly. I like small cars and even my BRZ is a little bigger than I like. I mean I like it heaps but it isn't what I define as small. Although having said that at the local shopping center there are some
"Small Car Only" car park space and yet my car fits in those with room to spare.

Secondly. In order of preference my drive preference goes rwd, fwd, awd I would happily compromise myself and get an awd Yaris.
Thirdly. I have mention elsewhere in these forums I enjoy driving mum's 1.3 auto Yaris.
The tyre place I go to laughed when I turned up having to get the front tyres replaced at about 35k kilometers.

Fourthly. The GR4 looks nothing like the rally car.
Fifthly. I'm thinking even if it comes to Australia it would be a poor decision to get one for a couple real life shouldn't do it type reasons.*sigh*
Sixthly. I think that's all atm.

Captain Snooze 12-20-2019 06:45 AM

Wrong.
Seventhly. For some reason I find 1.6 liters, 3 cylinders, 260 hp, 260 lbft amusing.

Eightly - according to the write-ups, the rally team wanted a 3 door shell with a low roof, which is what they've got.. carbon roof and aluminium used for other body panels..

I don't know how they get 260+bhp from a wee 1.6, 3 cylinder engine.. the drive modes are rather interesting too, 50:50 is the norm with 2 other settings being more rear biased..

That would be a great daily/drift missile in the winter.

StraightOuttaCanadaEh 12-20-2019 08:28 AM

The initial article I read about the car said it's not coming to North America.

Yeah unfortunately North America gets the rebadged Mazda2 for the Yaris.

While international markets gets the new 100% TNGA Toyota Yaris.
