Confirmed Australian BRZ models - BRZ Coup, BRZ Coup S - No 17inch. JDM Engine

Just had my dealer contact me, and there is hardly any difference between them.

Dealer said the only difference are the seats. Wheel and tires the same! Will need to confirm if adaptive headlights etc is any different. ** Confirmed, it IS only the seats and seat heater!

** Confirmed AU Melbourne prices.
Coupe (M) $42,699 driveaway
Coupe (A) $46,658 driveaway
Coupe S (M) $43,949 driveaway
Coupe S (A) $47,909 driveaway

All no cost paints, so pick whatever you like.

Edit:
Notable things - Looks like we have the JDM engine specs and Satnav included on the multimedia display. Actually I think we are 1kw higher than the rated JDM spec...?
Interesting differences in weight - but it is TARE, not KERB. 1249kg.
Includes a FULL spare tire

The weight situation is interesting. I calculate kerb weight (full tank 50L) as about 1277kg @ average weight 98RON fuel. The base 17inch GR86 is 1275kg with a repair kit.

Been told BRZ Coop is 38k MSRP AUD, on road 43k (thats 5k, what a ripoff)

The BRZ Coup S was told to me as 44k (AUD). Not sure if thats exact though, I have been told there is a $1,200 difference. So perhaps 44,200...

All no cost paints, so pick whatever you like.

This is pretty similar to first gen in Aus where the base was only available in the 86 to make it the cheaper option isn't it?

Pretty keen with that price though right under what I was expecting

Boomerang 09-06-2021 05:42 AM

Hopefully the 86 is ten grand cheaper than the BRZ like the first gen

The BRZ in Australia was a 'middle' spec, and priced between them. If I recall correctly that 2012 BRZ lacked GPS and touch screen, and a few bits and bobs.

Money wise it was $37,150 drive away. Thats only 6k less than the new car 10 years later.

The Toyotas were 29,990+on-roads for the GT and 35,490+on-roads for the GTS. When I bought my GTS its cost $39,637.49 - that's with the pearl white paint and slimline plates.

So pricing is sharp and even back then for the money I'd pay the extra few grand to upgrade into 18inch pilot sport 4, and a 2.4l engine!

Professor google is telling me that top spec 86 $39,637.49 in 2012 is worth $46,269.90 today due to inflation.

I can tell you that Subaru have only 500 car allotment through to July next year, and 400 of those have already been pre-ordered. I think it goes on sale (online) tomorrow at 11pm and those last 100 or so will probably be gone that day.

So if you haven't pre-ordered, maybe call one of the the bigger dealers and get that in early. 1k deposit, but its is (or make sure it is) refundable pending test drive and finance.

Also.

Apparently the AU models come with a built in GPS (not just apple/andriod), but sometimes I think my dealer salesman isn't 100% on point, the number of times he's told me its got a turbo isn't funny.

He also said its 228hp (so US spec), and they will be offering a range of additional accessories.

I guess tomorrows page will confirm all the details.

I put an order in through a dealer near me a few weeks ago but no confirmation on if I have an allocation or not, will reach out tomorrow. Hopefully if anything I just have to be flexible on colour/model

I reached out to a Toyota dealer a week or so before the official reveal and he told me he had info it was going to have a targa top. Some salesman say some interesting things.

On roads? What does that mean?

It should go by contract date but you have to have been entered into the system apparently. He called me at 3pm today and asked me for colour and spec, I asked if I could get back to him on colour and he said he had to put it in the system before 6pm.

I'd call your salesperson as early as you can. Like I said, only 500 cars till mid to late next year.

That being said, you are probably fine. I think because I deposited before there was that official expression of interest, they probably just needed to get my stuff into the system before tomorrows event.

So all the fees are referred to as "on roads"?

Interesting. Reminds me of a British friend who called a paint brush a mop.

Yeah just a shortening of on road costs/fees. We don't like to say full phrases over here.

Just put my deposit down 44,987 drive away for a coupe(coup?) S

Yeah they separate the MSRP from any other charge.
