Homelink not working

Does anyone have problems with the homelink mirror?

The compass and auto dimming feature work well, and the homelink buttons are dimly lit, but pressing the buttons does nothing. The indicator light that’s supposed to pop up on the mirror face is nowhere to be seen.

have you tried pressing the power button?

That just toggles the dimming function on and off, it shouldn’t control the home link side of the mirror.

Either way pressing the power button makes no difference.

Did you reset the homelink by pressing buttons 1 & 3 at the same time?

Yep, no dice. I’m afraid the problem is deeper than that. There is no indicator light no matter what I do, the indicator light should be showing as soon as you push any button. Either the HL is dead, or the HL portion isn’t getting power (not sure how many wires go to this mirror).

Mine is doing the same thing. I have an appointment on Monday. Wondering if it has to be enabled through a dealer tool.

Do you think it was factory, port or dealer installed?

dragoontwo 11-27-2021 01:58 PM

I do believe it is a port installed option.

What ports did they come through? Maybe someone did both of them wrong at that port.

They both came through Brunswick.

I was thinking that too, it could be a simple software toggle that enables the power. Keep us updated, I need to go in whenever my STI parts come in. Hopefully it’s something simple.

can you post a picture of the mirror?

i had a gentex v5 installed in my '18 truck when i got it(directional arrows on the left side). i yanked it for a gentex v4--mostly for the video display, but also i knew how to make a v4 work, as that's what's in my '14 brz. i could never get the v5 to do anything i wanted, despite trying it on my 10-year-old myQ operator, or my parents 3-month-old myQwifi operator.

the sales staff "successfully" reprogrammed it twice, per the method introduced around v3(press-hold, and press-hold garage remote). but it never worked when i got home-- they told me it'd take a special service call to send a tech to the house to diagnose and fix it...

of note, i also had to follow the instructions on page 9 regarding rolling code of this guide to get my operator to work with the v4 mirror.

I'm having the same problem - compass and dimming function work just fine, but the Homelink buttons don't respond. FWIW I installed my mirror myself, using this part and still had this issue: https://parts.subaru.com/p/105698790/H501SCC000.html

Curious to hear what you with dealer/port installed mirrors learn!

Yup that’s the same mirror. Seeing that there are already 3 of us and you got your mirror yourself, a dead mirror is probably very unlikely, something else is going on.

Did you take note of the connector in the car? Same number of wires on the car side harness than in the mirror’s wiring?
