Tech noob. Don't hate. How add pictures to posts?
 

I looked at the "how to add images to post" thread and it really didn't help at all. I also tried searching but that didn't come up with anything either. I'm not gonna pay for image hosting from photobucket, and I really don't understand how imgur works.

I uploaded photos to imgur and tried linking to them in a post a few different times and none of them worked. All I saw as the typed text. I was also unsure if the photos would eventually just disappear from my post. Does imgur automatically dump old stuff?

I tried using google photos, but google won't let me get the link to my photo. It only gives me a link to a page that someone could go to and see the photo, but no one wants to click a link to see a picture.

Can someone point me in the right direction here? How can I add pictures to posts without worry that one day my posts will simply be a collection of "sorry image gone".

That link that you got from imgur, usually it’s called “direct link” or something along those lines, did you just paste it into the box and that’s it? You have to insert it between two pieces of code. The first piece is [i m g]. I added spaces between i, m, and g because otherwise this thing will think I’m trying to upload a pic. Second part of code is [ / i m g ]. So again, do this

[ i m g ] insert imgur pic link here [ / i m g ]

Give that a try. Don’t forget to remove the spaces in the code

You're confusing the URL (address) of your imgur post with that of the image.


https://imgur.com/7AVp3xb is the post but you have to figure out the URL of the image.

If I view the image then I can see the URL. That's what you use.

Here's another cool trick. add an l, m, or s to the end of the file name just before the extension. like https://i.imgur.com/7AVp3xbl.jpg gives you an 800 pixel-wide copy.

That's only an imgur thing. No, as long as they stay in business, your image won't disappear.

Nice tips! I will use that. Makes for a cleaner Image than with the little note above it.

You can also use tinypic, it even gives you the BBCode needed to copy/paste directly into a post.
