Front Bumper Respray?

I was driving on the highway over the weekend and the car in front of me ran over a big chunk of blown out tire, which shot it right into my front bumper. There's a big chunk of paint missing and the paint is cracked all around where it hit.

So, now I'm gonna need to get the bumper repainted. Any ideas about what a reasonable cost for that should be?

maybe 250-300?

A honest reasonable price for a proper bumper repair and refinish is usually around 1,000, but without pics its impossible to give any idea of what you are looking at.

$1000 seems a bit steep. I went to a body shop to get an estimate over my lunch break and they quoted me about $300.

But yeah, sorry for no pics, I'll add some later if I remember.

A local body shop in NY has quoted me $400 to respray my front bumper, but that’s without any other damage besides the paint (ie no dents) just chipping

That's essentially what mine is like. No dents, just a big chip of paint missing and some cracking around where the thing hit the bumper.

Also, I just realized this thread probably should be in the "Cosmetic Maintenance" sub-forum rather than this one. Mods, feel free to move this thread.

that is gonna be a shit job, I don't know how you can even make money on doing a bumper correctly for 300. I run a body shop and nothing costs 300.

Ask Maaco, I guess? That's where I got my estimate from.

I looked around on some other forums and 300-500 seems to be a normal price for a bumper respray, but I wanted to see what people who actually have the same car I did have paid.

I got an estimate to have my rear bumper repainted and was quoted $400.

I had mine repainted when the car was 3 months old and a chunk of concrete hit my bumper. It cost me 1200 (insurance covered 700 I paid 500) and they did a terrible job. Granted my car is a 3 stage whiteout 37j. But its horrible. If I could go back I would have skipped the respray all together and just dealt with the chip and cracks.

just so you know they owe you a quality repair so you can have them either redo it or go to a way better shop and it wont cost you anything

Was there damage to the bumper itself, or just the paint?

I know....the full story is a bit longer than what I admitted to originally. They had the car for a month, which was 2 weeks longer than they quoted. Then they handed me the keys and said "all set!!" with the car looking like it does here. No badge and all.

I laughed at them. They asked if they could blend in the bumper and I told them hell no. They eventually made it match pretty well. But it started peeling within a year bc they just sprayed over the original paint. I went back and they said I would have to pay full cost for a respray if I wanted it redone so I wrote nasty reviews everywhere I could. They offered a free respray if I took the reviews down but I thought that was unethical. The review stays and the bumper continues to peel. Funny part is, its 99% a track car now. So I don't even care what it looks like.
