Automatic turbo frs 2nd gear problems.

Hey guys I’ve been have a reoccurring issue. When I’m on WOT going from 1st to 2nd, there seems to be a lag between it. Like it takes a second or two to actually switch. It happens almost every time and only seems to be going from first to 2nd gear. I’m pushing about 10 psi. Any thoughts?

Check your ATF to see if its low. When mine was slightly low, gear changes took a lot longer and the shifts were very hard. I also had a boosted auto brz on 10psi greddy kit.

Atf = automatic transmission fluid?

Yes

I have been having this same issue. I thought the tranny was just responding slow but I will check the fluid levels and let you guys know as soon as I find out.

So I took a gander at the fluid levels of the transmission and they are good. I will be taking the car into a transmission shop in the future to find out some way to improve transmission response time.

Hopefully it will be an easy mod / fix. Ive always known the AT to be very slow in this car so I doubted it was anything to do with the fluid but it was a good thought.

Does it happen only on full throttle or even with light throttle?

For me it is only under full throttle.

Could try asking dealership to reset transmission ecu.

Does the atf smell burnt?

I don't remember the smell tbh.

I do think it that it might have something to do with the tune though. The car only has 12k miles on it.

Are you in "sport mode"? I have found that in "sport mode" my car will hit the rev-limiter and cut power before it shifts to 2nd. Not sure if this is what you are experiencing.

Can you provide a datalog of the occurrence during a pull or something?

Edit: I just want to confirm it is transmission and not engine. FWIW, auto transmissions can be tuned. APR for German cars does it all the time.

Hmmm yes actually. I am usually in sport mode with manual mode on as well. I'm gonna have to test this the next time I get into the car. Really sounds like this could be it.

The car is tuned with EcuTech so I [I]can[I] get a data log but I dont have cables right now so I cant. But soon hopefully :D

Also at one point I was thinking that it was from the engine (maybe a miss fire under load) but I've moved away from that thought after paying closer attention.
