Anyone else getting BRZ cabin fever?
 

This is my first winter with my new BRZ and I was curious how many others that live in the freezing and snowy "Hoth" states keep their cars in storage. It has been 37 days for me since I have driven my baby.

I have done all the prep for it not to be driven for a few months, but I am missing it like crazy. There is no amount of Forza that can make up for it! :)

Anyway, just seeing if there are any others who are suffering as well. Cheers!

Actually yea, as @bcj mentioned, maybe get some studded winter tires. But I have a good pair of Hankook tires and I drive my BRZ every weekend. I got mine this past December too so it's I can relate!

I live in Toronto up north in Canada and we have pretty shitty roads up here. But regardless of me driving manual for the first time in my life and that too in the winters with a rear wheel drive car, if you're safe and be in control of how much gas you give it, you should be good :)

The last couple mornings it's been -23 degrees Fahrenheit outside. I don't even want to think about how stiff a shift from first to second would be with a manual transmission. Of course, that assumes the engine might actually be running . . .

I had an Oil change done to my SI in Duluth back in 1991, need to find an excuse to do those northern states again.

Keeping my baby cozy till April 1st in an unheated garage and both access doors have been frozen shut in ice for past 3 weeks so would not be able to get her out if I wanted.

Unless it really warms up, her earliest groundhog impression would be march 16th.
Just made sure all was dry, no parking brake and battery tender was well connected when I put it away.

My Bro & his friend both have Brz/Frs and those are chilling in their garages as well.

I Will go sit in the seat once my garage door thaws out… Maybe even a few times…

I have not seen any on the road since November around here…

Learnt about the dry part with a new 2000 SIR. I had washed it on storage day..
Brakes were a bit ceased in the spring…

We have winter tire requirements so that was a motivator as well.

Got to make due with my faithful GD3 doing its winter thing for the time being, no driver assist available on this one except the parking brake to defeat the stupid ABS to better corner and stop in the snow … and TG the heater works.

But the long term plan is that the BRZ will be my next winter beater when the GD3 goes to rust…:burnrubber:

I only store it over night.

I shoe my BRZ with studded winter tires. With all the 'nanny' aids on, you can hardly throw this thing off the road. Best non 4x4 winter vehicle I have ever driven.



Disclaimer...if you get over 12cm of snow...it's a snow plow. Leave it at home.

Ha, I barely know how to drive in the rain. There’s hardly ever any wet days here.

Meh.
It is just a car. It will drive in the snow just like any other car as long as you put the right tires on it. Studded are nice maybe but not required (and not even legal in many places).
Both mine have been year round daily drivers and I have not been stuck, had hard starts nor stiff shifts no matter how cold it has been.
I fully understand people that want to keep it nicer for a couple of years but I personally buy cars to drive not store away for months at a time.
Clear the snow.
Put it in gear.
Go for it.

Meh...I drove up to 10,500 feet today to go ski 6" of fresh. It's not a Pagani. Go drive it.

Haven't driven mine since the weekend after Thanksgiving.

We don't even get snow here really. If it's not nice enough out to have the window down I'm not really interested in driving it.

If I still lived in a rust belt area I wouldn't have the car back out until well after the snow melt and a few good hard rains to wash the salt off the roads.
