Ebay CAI with K&N filter. Thoughts?

Hey Y'all i got Cool air intake from Facebook for $50
It came with the Tube that goes from the Throttle Body to the Filter but the filter looked in terrible condition so I went and got a K&N Filter RC-4630XD from Amazon and it came in the next day. I Assembled it on the car and it sounds beautiful.

So my question is WILL that tube cause any problems in the future because its a ebay product? it seems pretty solid with no cracks or holes on the welds. Or does it have to do with the tube it self? Because the filter is the same as the K&N Typhoon Intake System on Ft86factory listed Below (Replacement Filter)

And also i heard that i cant just put the CAI in because i will need a tune to see real performance? Im full Stock so im not really looking for "REAL" performance yet, i just want it to sound nice a little which it does. Can i have yall insight in this? Thanks <3

I looked around for the CAI i got and it was from Ebay

I got the K&N RC-4630XD Filter from Amazon

Where i got the Replacement filter info from: K&N Typhoon Intake System

You'll probably lose power due to heat soak. I wouldn't use it but it shouldn't damage anything

Heat shield is steel?

It'll heat soak, cause the engine to run lean, melt a piston, and send one through the side of your block.

Then off course, I don't know how to search either.

Looks likeevery other $500 brand name intake.....

Would it make a difference if the piston exited through the top side or the bottom side? I'm thinking it would be better if it blew through the bottom side because the tray would catch a lot of the gunk but if it exited through the top you would have to use more degreaser.

But thinking about this some more if the car was parked on its nose it would become a case of exiting through either the front side or the back side which is what the hemorrhoid said.

No intake for this platform makes more power. The stock cold air intake was very well designed. Even the gains of the 2 best performers, the TRD and grimmspeed intakes, are low. Your best bet is to get a drop in panel filler and a mishimoto style intake elbow.

You'll gain more by removing the intake altogether. Shaves at least 10lbs. Fresh unfiltered air right into the throttle body. Filters and tubes slow the air DOWN. you want to speed that shit up bro.

Yeah, and dust/sand that will get in will hone cylinders like no manufacturer ever will. Engine will be so smooth all 2K miles it will last.

Dont let these guys scare you.. it will work but it will run like shit without a tune. At least it will sound cool.

In all seriousness the best thing to do is route piping from the air conditioning ducts inside the car to force cold air into the intake. You have to make a small mod to increase the fan speed proportionally to the throttle position but there are kits for that.
One of the benefits of this system is you can adjust the power output by adjusting the temperature thermostat.

I agree, even with the AVO I still run the OEM intake apart from the snorkel mod and drop in.

When NA I did have the Mishimoto tube, more so to remove the noise tube neatly, and a drop in K&N filter.

My point was more about how much the aftermarket charge for their CAI, which weirdly, give the same gains as a drop in and snorkel mod.

Consumers will consume.
