Bronze prize for the Human Comedy Missions book. Special edition Fairlady Z. I'm not going to try to get all gold since that means I'll have to attempt 4 races. Don't want to do them again, especially the kei car one.

I’ve seen a 432 in person when I was in Okinawa visiting family. My cousins boss has one.

Nice!

Playing with controller because my #&@&)&! Brake pedal died

Kaotic Lazagna 04-23-2022 02:03 AM

That's unfortunate!

What brand? My Logitech g923 has been thrashed but operates fine still, especially the progressive brake pedal.

Supposed to be. These are pretty much brand new. Going to take it apart and see if I can get it working.

How long is the warranty? I'd contact them if it's still in the period.

It’s well within. Just got it in Feb.

On a side note, surprised how playable GT7 is with a controller. Even with all the countersteer assist and stuff off it’s not terrible. ACC is unplayable though.

Yeah it's not bad at all with a controller. I do find myself now wanting a steering wheel though just for the really challenging races for more fine tuned steering but that's just me. I was able to do all the menus and many of the missions with just the controller.

Contact them before messing with it. Otherwise they'll say the warranty was voided.

I had to turn off the adaptive triggers in order to actually do well. I'm still using the controller to this day.

Drifting, I like to use controller more than steering. Some lazy nights, I prefer to use controller to race lol

Magically, it started working. I went to work to grab my laptop to try a firmware update. Decided to power it of first and now it works. :iono:

Quite addicted to GT7. It’s a bit arcade-y but it’s lots of fun.

Some Gran Turismo 2 vibes (yes, I know Fuji wasn't in GT2). And yes, I bought the R34 GT500 twice just to have the two liveries at the same time. LOL

If going to the track is something you're remotely interested in doing, I wouldn't let GT7 dissuade you from it, haha. IRL is NOWHERE near as difficult as it feels in GT7. Being a video game, and with most of us on a limited "setup" budget, you're deprived of so much sensory input. And that sensory input makes all the difference. When you can feel the car rotating based on your inputs, and get tire chatter through the steering wheel, it makes things much easier. Naturally that varies from car to car.

Drift setup in GT7 isn’t easy as GTS. I thought it’ll be same, but feels like brake bias feel & tire grip changed a lot… still able to toss 86 around

It is weird how difficult some things feel, but others feel so easy. You can brake hard so far into the apex with some steering angle, and even if you blow a corner you can save it a lot of times because of this. The FFB is just weight in the steering, it's not detailed at all though I notice it lightens up considerably in the rain. Going from GT7 to ACC is night and day. The FFB in ACC is very detailed. I find I lose the car randomly in GT7 with no idea how and no indication the car was going to go.

I am use to games like ACC where you typically drive with some TCS in GT3 cars. I expected to maybe want a touch of TCS in cars over 400hp but the Porsche's in GT7 are ridiculously unstable. I probably spent 3 hours on the Nordschleife part of cafe book 31, the 997 GT3 I was using was a nightmare to drive.

Apparently the latest update made some big changes to physics:

Quote:

“adjusted the geometry calculations” which caused a lack of rear-end grip particularly on rear-wheel drive cars
Looking forward to trying it out

They also added BRZ S and GT300 BRZ. OF course Cappuccino as well. Interested on if BRZ will be same PP as GR86.

Kaotic Lazagna 04-25-2022 12:41 PM

The Cappuccino would have been great to use in the kei car mission. But I'm not doing that again. I don't care for the gold prize car anyway.

Just a bit more stability on some cars would be nice. Like coming down the hill at out of Aremberg it was so hard to stay on the power, and in light rain on intermediates the car just randomly spun coming down Dottinger Hohe. I did end up doing a 8:07 in mixed conditions but I don't think I have ever try harded so hard before.

Gotta try the update. I just got done trying it out, and I am psyched to say the least. Might have been the first time I really enjoyed just driving in GT7

Did that come out today? I will have to try it when I get home. I saw something about server maint today but didn't know there was an update. A little more FFB at low speeds would be nice. Sometimes if feels like I got nothing through my wheel.

Yes, new update. A few new cars and 24h Spa layout.

It's hard to say regarding FFB, I don't think much has changed, but the fact that cars are so much more controllable maybe makes what FFB you get feel more adequate.

Oh boy, I didn't know the Aston Martin Vulcan is available in GT7. Has anyone tried it out? I know Jeremy C. tested it on TGT and his words were "Is not like being attacked by a bear, but being in a room with a bear that is thinking of attacking you."

Did you see when Chris Harris drove one?

"My face is bending."

I haven't but I'll check it out!

WolfpackS2k 04-25-2022 03:42 PM

I'm most excited about doing the new 1 hour Spa race. $1,500,000 payout if you get CRB and from the chatter I've seen online it's not a terribly difficult race to win.

spcmafia 04-25-2022 03:49 PM

OMG this thing is a absolute monster. The amount of grip and how fast you can take corners is unbelievable.

So the BRZ has more PP than the GR86 when you put them both on SS tires…

I will say it took some effort to match my BRZ time at Tsukuba with the GR86 today. My guess is if I go back to the BRZ and really pull out all the stops I'll be a half second faster.

GR86 is a little more playful which makes it slightly harder to stay tidy when trying to go as fast as possible. I think that's really neat because that's what people say about the cars in real life.

NoHaveMSG 04-25-2022 10:22 PM

It’s much better. Even being super sloppy in the Porsche cup race at the ring I smashed my previous time no warm up.

Spa is hands down my favorite track, I think I did 4 events yesterday of the races not included on the Menus. I almost always run into issues on turns 10, 11, and 12 because it feels like you can carry a lot more speed than what the turn allows you to.

fredzy 04-26-2022 08:25 AM

With the new physics, I was able to win LeMans 30 min on the same set of RH tires through two period of heavy rain. Once the bar was almost to the 2/3 mark. Only time I went off was when I sort of 'tested' traction mid-corner with a little punch of the throttle. Takeaway is that getting caught out on slicks is not a guaranteed multi-spin affair now. You definitely have to nurse it back carefully but it's MUCH more manageable.

That said, I didn't put a ton of seat time in on gr.3 type cars but man, you're really glued to the road now with racing tires. Comfort and sport tires though, wow. I can see actually enjoying drifting now.

Kaotic Lazagna 04-26-2022 10:12 AM

I have the opposite experience with the LM rain. Wet grip seems to be even less predictable now. I actually spun out 3 or 4 times, with one of those times being on IM tires. I rarely ever spun out unless it was in the upper third bar and on RH tires.

On a side note, I fell asleep on the straight before the first chicane. Woke up when the car went into the kitty litter. LMAO
