Surprised I didn't find a thread about GT7 here. Since it's the release date, figured I'd make one for general discussion about the game. I'm waiting for mine to arrive in the mail. I pre-ordered it back last September, iirc.

Oh is been discussed in several other threads, just nobody took the time to make a new thread I guess. I pre-ordered it too but just the digital version. I haven't gotten too far yet, just the first couple of Café challenges. I'm really glad to have a game that really uses the PS5 graphics capabilities to the max though. (Well almost max it's only 60fps could be 120 I suppose) It's absolutely stunning though. I enjoy some of the replays more than the actual race haha.

Just got the PS4 version, which I'm so glad exists. I love GT but there's no way I was going to pick up a PS5 just for it.

Lmao, it's really the reason I got a PS5. I did end up getting several other games while waiting for it.

The download rally mini races are fun.

Yeah but 2 and 3 cut you out early before the time runs out so you can't get gold in miles, lol. I hope that's not the case in the actual game music rally.

Yeah I'm having trouble even getting silver in the third one. Granted my line sucks and I should be able to shave some time off but it cuts before I can get quite there.

Yeah I only got bronze too. My driving sucked but I still had time left when it cut out so I think* they shortened the demo. I hope.

It's kinda dumb that they let you keep extending the time but it only goes as long as the track (song) does

Oh yeah, I suppose in that case you could in theory cover more ground in less time. I only tried it a few times and gave up because I thought it was cutting out at the same spot in the tunnel. But yeah makes no sense to give you more time and then be like sorry song is over haha. Maybe in the non-demo the song will repeat? Now I want to go test it but I'm not home haha.

Also, I found that turning off ASM really helps you lap quicker times. I play with TCS at 0 (I'll probably have it at 1 for the crazy high hp/fast cars). Controller too since I don't want to spend 1600 bucks or what ever it was for the Fanatec DD GT, H shifter, handbrake, and mounting rig.

Well you're a better driver than me, I got Gold, Silver, then Bronze. Although I turned all assists complete off and was driving a manual. I am also using the standard PS5 controller.

I know games are big business and there is marketing benefits to be had but even so this is quite an investment for a game.

One assist I can't turn off is ABS. Aside from that, I used to play with TCS on in Gran Turismo Sport, and just practiced my trigger control as I turned it down and eventually off. Although 7 has the adaptive triggers, and the handling characteristics are very different than Sport. So I'm having to get used to everything again.

Also, 7 is probably the hardest GT I've played, which is a good thing. I put the difficulty on Hard, and sure enough, I can't win the one GT3 race that's available at the start. Best I got is 4th. The AI actually defend, and have several times intentionally spun me out.

All of these GT specific cars don't actually run IRL, right?

That is my understanding but I'm guessing if you got a team of German engineers they could push it up to a speed of about 8 km/h.

On the PS4 I wouldn't have either, but with the haptic feedback controller it isn't too bad, just more difficult. And yeah I noticed that if you bump an A.I. player it seems to get way more agressive with you, so cool!

These B license challenges are killing me.

I was just passing one really close due to being mid corner. Once we got on the straight, around I went without notice. :lol:


It's a love/hate relationship with these test. Much more challenging than previous tests. While agitating, it does make the game more worth the cost. I got through A. I'll try finishing the rest the next time I play.

It's worth trying to get gold on each one since they'll give you two cars at the completion of each license. I can't remember the completion car for B (some car I'll never use), but the all gold was the 3000GT VR4. A gives you the Scirocco R for completion, and the BRZ STi Sport for gold. I'm curious on what the other cars are.

It's a masterpiece! I'm enjoying it a lot!
Uninstalled AC, FM7, Dirt 2.0 from my PC immediately.

The trigger feedback on the controller was a nightmare until I figured out I could turn it off or at least turn it down. I figure the accelerator trigger doesn't need any feedback, only braking. Even then I kinda struggle to see the benefit. IMO it just makes it hard to know how hard you're braking. Usually get gold on all the B license tests in 1-2 attempts (got the license in about an hour) but I feel like those have been the same challenges for the last 4 games. Music rally is hilariously awful, what's with the music?? Music is the first thing I turn off in the settings. Graphics look good, handling model is great. Only played about a couple hours so far though. The A license tests are a bit more challenging.

I straight up threw my PC in the trash after the download finished.

How do you turn off the adaptive triggers?

Edit: Found the option. Turned it off and for the last IA test, I was able to shave off 3 or 4 seconds. Now just gotta find another .400 seconds to get that gold!

Got mine yesterday, very fun game, with fair simulation level. Total noob here, now I need to pay ps+ to start multiplayer.

I'm up to Café book 15. Man that Stingray you really got to be gentle on the gas especially when you upgrade the engine! The extreme tires help a little. It's so fun to race big stupid heavy cars with lots of torque though. Ass happy sliding... I'm not sure if the A.I. are actually more agressive too in America or if it just spins you out easier.. maybe both. I got mad a few times because I was on good runs and was clean but they took me out anyway. The dirt looks so realistic/cool though when you go off course in the desert, HA! I love this game I'm so happy to see the difficulty level going up exponentially even this early in the game.

I'm stuck on the last IA test with the Benz. I need to get gold in everything or else it bothers me. I got it down to .300 seconds.

The menu book I'm at is the Alsace one. Been looking for an R32 GTR too, but haven't seen one yet pop up.

you just wait until you get to the single seater at Laguna Seca. So far getting gold in everything but these lap-long events definitely take about an hour each to dial down all the corner lines.

Yeah I did the B license all in gold but I've been focused on the Café storyline so I'm not going to try for the higher licenses until it makes me.

I tried the 1st S test with the Lamborghini, and wtf is all I can say. I won't try again until I get that last gold for IA.

You must be an A or A+ DR if you were getting all golds so far! I'm only a B DR. At least my SR is S+. Lol

make sure you watch the demonstrations and crank up the traction control all the way up to 5. Super important to hit the true apex of each corner. Sometimes I do better in certain views - chase or "first person", especially if the ghost is blocking the line

Really? I feel like TCS slows me down too much. I even tried having it on 1 for that final IA test, and I was still slower than having it off.

I'll have to try using different camera views to see if that will help me.
