Harness install question
Hey everyone.
Maybe a but of a newb question. But id rather be safe than sorry. I have no problems with shoulder straps. Since i have a roll bar its pretty straight forward. Driver left side lapbelts is pretty obvious and i can bolt it down to the OE belt anchor. My question is for the center console side lapbelt mounting. I believe drilling into the tunnel and reinforcing the back end is the safest way. But are there any alternatives thay people run that are a bit more convenient /less intrusive? Btw i dont mind drilling the car or it being inconvenient. But if i dont have to, then might as well save my time. Safety is obvi main concern. If drilling is the key, then so be it. Let me know if there are any alterbatives for leftnside lap belt mount. Thanks! |
When I built my racecar (not a BRZ) I welded a fastener to the tunnel and it was adequate.
If you look at the way the factory mount for the inside belt works you'll see that it's actually attached to the seat. You could use a square of steel with the fastener (bolt) welded to it and and bolt that to the tunnel with another backing plate on the other side in the tunnel. It feels like overkill though. If you can weld I would suggest just putting a fastener on a backing plate and welding the plate to the tunnel. If you already have a full cage then this is definitely the way I would go about it. |
thanks for the response!
I bought a reinforcement plate. Decided to just drill. Time to stop being lazy. thanks for your help ! |
