The aftermaket company stopped selling their own part and now they are selling a revision which is much more difficult to install.

Subaru's part looks much better.

Yup, there is another thread on that part but don't have the link right now. Problem with the Subaru part is zero availability ATM.

This SB was issued in December. Just wait a couple months those parts will be in stock at every dealer. Parts are almost never available at the release of a SB.

I assume this would also work on the FRS?

With this being a service bulletin and my car needing the recall should I just ask to fix during the recall ?

Generally, a Bulletin is an update or guidance for a known issue, updated part, updated procedure, etc. It does not extend any additional warranty on top of your normal warranty.

A recall would be work performed under warranty regardless of the vehicles age or mileage.

A car may have 2 or 3 recalls, there are hundreds of bulletins that could apply to the same car.

This would be a bumper to bumper (no pun) issue. If you are not under the 3/36 you will be out of luck. If you have an extended warranty you might get it fixed depending on your contract.

Service bulletins are not recalls. Generally the way it works is you complain about issue and they will verify the issue and refer to service bulletin for repair procedure. If you go in and say hey there is a service bulletin I want this, they won't do it. We are lucky we have the internet and easy access to service bulletins because in my experience dealers are very secretive about them for some reason.
