are these shift level retainer bushings?
 
i just did my clutch last night and cleaning up i found these under the cardboard i layed down. Im pretty sure they fell out where the pins went

Yep, those are the front shifter carrier bushings. These go around a pin which is locked in placed by a rotating tab, if that rings any bells.

damn it i must have accidentally pushed the inside ones out when putting those pins back in. i need to change the diff so i guess ill drop the drive shaft and reach up there

You can access them without removing anything, but it's pretty tight and blind. I replaced mine with stiffer ones mainly by feel.

yeah my plan is to disconnect the trans mount so i sag it down a bit then disconnect the shift linkage so i can push it to the side and then use a pick to pop the hooks off. then i need to feel which ones i pushed out by mistake
