Tcoat being AWOL reminds me of a back-in-the-day-Army story.
During a tour in Germany, back in the 60s, I had this soldier that went AWOL for 40 days but then finally returned to the unit. He wouldn't talk to anyone about why he was AWOL, all he said is that he went to Amsterdam.
I sent him over to the unit medical doctor for a checkup. Doc said that he had an emotional problem. So, I sent him over to the Chaplain. The Chaplain couldn't get him to talk about what happened to him.

Tcoat, have I told this story before? - :iono:
Anyway, one evening I took this soldier for a walk in the motor pool at the far end of the kaserne (Coleman Barracks), Tcoat has been there.
We sat on the top of a M-113 APC and watched the sun go down. I asked him one more time what his story was. The young soldier burst out in tears and told me his story.
To make a long story short, when he was in Amsterdam, he fell in love. After a few dates with the person he fell in love with and he started to have sex. That's when he found out that the person he fell in love with, wasn't a woman, but was a man!
He just couldn't shake that, so, I sent him up to the Division HQ with a recommendation that he be evaluated for a section 8.
A week later, he was granted a Section 8, sent back to the states and discharged from the service.
Now back to the topic - where and why is @
Tcoat?
