Long term build
Working on building my 2015 FR-S it's going to be a slow build. I only want to do the work once.
Things I have done so far. 1) bought car new and put 2700 miles on it. 2) installed Ohlins road and track coilovers on it. 3) installed Parts By Max solid subframe and differential riser bushings. 4) Removed and sold engine and transmission. 5) Stripped engine bay. 6) ordered Vorshlag LS swap kit. (Transmission, driveshaft, engine and transmission mounts). Scrapped the idea of using ready made kit. Building this my way! 7) ordered a LT4 engine from GM performance. 8) bought oem exhaust manifolds, and catalytic converters. Modified car to fit them . |

Working on routing brakelines and cleaning up firewall.
Moved the clutch master cylinder over 3". Stole that idea from @kurty85 Will be rerouting the HVAC lines and heater core lines as well for engine clearance. Have to make patch panels weld them in and cut new openings where I want them. I bought the vorshlag kit but may push the motor back further anyway. Just making it easier in case I go that route. |

Getting plates ready to fill firewall. I will be welding in plates I cut. Still need to strip interior, get the primer, and paint off the surrounding metal I will be welding the plates to. Hopefully I will get this done by the time the week is over.

You are a brave man doing this to virtually a new car. But I'll definitely be checking this regularly for updates

I bought it to build it. I told my girlfriend before I bought it "if i buy the car I'm not going to drive it. I'm buying it to work on". After I sold the engine and transmission she finally figured out I meant what I said literally. I had to remind her I told her what I was going to do with it before I bought it, and she told me she was fine with it. She then tells me she didn't think I was being literal. She thought it was going to be driven on weekends. Never got shit from her for the car after that. She is pretty cool about it now.

This is ballsy for sure. Curious to see it grow!

I will be posting pics up tomorrow of the plates being welded in, and the stripped interior.

I Stripped the interior. Wanted to start welding, and the welder died. Waiting on welder parts now.
|
I received my order for the welder. It was a cooling fan that failed, and it wouldn't allow the unit to run. Replaced the fan and did a few test welds. It looks like it's going to run now. I will attempt to weld in the plates again on Friday.
