The FT, is being compared with a Cayman S? I know this isn't a HP comparison, but a Cayman was compared, and not the 370Z?

Bingo. Guess why I'm interested in this car :D Lets just hope it drives as well as an s2000 ;) The size is right so next thing they can do is make it a similar weight ~2800 lbs

AE86 :

Length: 168.7 inches / Width: 64 inches / Height: 52.6 inches / Wheelbase: 94.5 inches / Weight: 2094

Weight for

Genesis coupe 2.0T: 3,294 - 3362 lbs
3.8: 3389 - 3397 lbs

Scion TC: 2905 lbs (man)/2970 (auto)

I'm not really sure if Cayman s should be compared... that car is in another price bracket heh.

Actually, it should be lighter. The S2K almost definitely has a lot of additonal chassis bracing because it's a convertable -- those are almost always heavier than their hard top counterparts.

Given that their dimensions are otherwise almost identical, I'd say we can expect the FT-86 will weigh between 2600 and 2700 lbs.

Holy crap! That picture almost makes the GTR look like a bus. That image really puts things into perspective. Cars these days are really bulky.

I guess its safe to say that the FT is about the same size as a S2000 or 370Z, which is great considering they are both just about the perfect size. The Genesis is a boat in comparison.

I included the Civic and the Mini because I own each and an FT will hopefully replace the Civic in the future.

I'd say that's wishful thinking. With the ever increasing amount of government mandated safety regulations, I can't see any new car coming to market that will seat 4 people weigh anything less than 2800 lbs.

I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it.
