Salvage TRD?

Hi everyone,

Listen I got into an accident this week and my quarter panel is busted.

Everything on the car is mostly fine other than the airbags, quarter panel, suspension and the glass of the quarter panel and 1 wheel All on the right side only.

I might have rear bumper to change or just repair and fenders to change.

I was wondering if I can still save my car…

it’s been 2 years since I have it and I’m ready to put between 10 to 25k

Last month it was 10k and it doesn’t stop. :sigh:

And if y’all can help me (find parts or whatever) that would be appreciate.

This car is stressing me out because I want to keep it😂

Ps: I try to not put pictures over here because the insurance might just want to scrap it but it’s a 2019 with 35miles and they give me 20k for the car…

FTFY ish

10 to 25k what???
Dollars? Miles? Chainsaws? Polar Bears?

Last month it was 10k.
Again 10k what?

I assume all the k remarks were dollars. CAD or USD since this does matter.
If they gave you 20k USD to fix the car are you trying to save some money???
That'd be very close to the write off price if you ask me.

Thanks for the fixing…I’m French…my English ain’t the best.

Anyways, yes k means CAD dollars

I’m not trying to save some money I couldn’t care less, I juste want my car back no matter what.:sigh:

it’s just that if the insurance company calls it a salvage/totaled they will give me 25K or maybe less.
They don’t want to repaire the car because it’s approximately they same amount that they will give me for the write off.

I don’t particularly relay on my insurance I will pay from my own pocket but my questions are mostly about the suspension, front passenger airbags and quarter panel… if they are busted is it totaled or I can still save it?

So far I got someone who do this type of réparation on our type of car. It’s mostly the frame and airbags that are stressing me out.

Oh and it was 10k in clutch, brakes and brembo caliper

Pictures or it did not happen.

Airbag deploy almost always equals total.

Total it buy another one and move on.

He is in Canada. We use Canadian dollars. There would be no US dollars involved.

The bigger question is the statement "they GAVE me...". Has it already been valued and paid out? Does it still belong to OP or the insurance company?

Take the buy out. Buy car back from insurance company and repair. No matter what if they write it off it will be a salvage title so there is no avoiding that part.

Like I said my English is not the best.

But I started talking with the insurance. They didn’t gave me the 20k, but they are thinking about it. But like I said I wanna my car and save it, so I will do whatever it takes to repair it and drive it again.

Only thing is that they don’t want to repair it they wanna scrap it so I’m kind of lost about what to do.

I got an estimate and it’s approximately 15k but insurance are evaluating at 20-25k of repairs

Dave-ROR 01-11-2023 10:57 AM

Also OP, just post pics. You posting pics isn't going to change what the insurance company decides to do as their decision is 100% financially based (damaged and liability cost/risk).

Votre anglais est meilleur que mon francais.
Once a repair bill hits about 85% of the cars book value it will almost always be written off. Sentimental value means something to you but not them.
As Dave said postup some pictures and the rebuild experts here can at least give you an idea if it can be saved.

Onyx_86 01-11-2023 12:16 PM

So here’s some pic.
I got a garage that’s gonna take it as a project car and will rebuilt it.
The total of parts it’s around 7.5K
And the labor around 6 to 8K depending the amount of time needed.

Yeah that's shitty painful work to have to fix. It's fixable for sure but not at all surprised they wanted to total it.

The price you are being quoted sounds very fair in Canadian monopoly money.

Canadian Monopoly money! I like this comparaison.

Well listen my other option is to do a part out and buy one from the States.

But the one from the states is 34K USA which is 45KCAD.

I rather do a part out and fly to the states to buy this beauty, and drive back here in Canada.

So I need you suggestions and what to do IÂ’m kind of lost because I get a brand new one for 45K CAD or a repaire totaled one for +/-15K CAD:search:

ONYX my old trd will be crushed and I will get ALFA 2.0 a new trd

You know if you buy one from the states you have to pay a shitload of fees and taxes to bring it up here? It is too new. Be a $60K car by the time you were done.

the real issue and concern here is going to be the frame straightness and suspension mounting points.

you said you've "got a guy", does that guy have access to a frame machine?

that would be the first step, imo.
