Clean way to add a USB port to the center console

2 Attachment(s)
I noticed several people drilling their center console to fish an iPod cable through and I thought there must be a cleaner way.

Anyway, I found these on Amazon and put one in the center console just behind the cup holders and the other in the glove box. This way I can keep in iPod in the glove box all the time and plug in my cell phone in the center console when I want to listen to Pandora or charge the phone.

i'm thinking about using this guy to connect to the usb/aux of my kenwood nav system and put it in that same place (remove the cigarette lighter plug).

If that fits right in that spot i'd just need a blank piece to put in place of the factory aux/usb jacks

Right now I'm pulling power from the HU but I bought a USB Y power cable just incase the load is more than the HU can supply in the future. I have this hooked up to a JV KW NT800HDT and so far power has not been an issue.

The HU had a USB slot in the back? I plan on getting that exact HU so just curious. And did you install it your self?

Yes, the HU has a USB cable on the back which is long enough to run beside the glove box. From there a put a mini hub to the glove box and console.

I did install the unit myself without any issues. The faceplate sticks out ~11mm past the dash kit but that is just the way this unit is made as it did the same thing in my C6 vette. I pulled the VSS signal from pin 17 on the 28 pin harness and the backup signal from the orange and white wire in the harness in the drivers kick panel. I used the same harness everyone else did for the rest of the wiring. Overall I really like this HU.
